Great race! I love the fact that the race organizers made the final week so difficult and with three stages to go we still don’t know who will wear pink in Milan. Tomorrow’s time trial will be huge but then we have another difficult stage the next day to look forward to with a mountain top finish. If Simoni can keep even with Il’ Falco during the TT then he could win. I’m really hoping Di Luca gets on the podium; he is currently off by 2 seconds. That dude is having an awesome year (2 classics and a possible podium finish). During last Saturday’s stage on OLN I could not believe how fast he was going uphill to close the gap on Simoni, truly amazing!
I can only hope the Tour will be as fun.

Dave, no way that the Tour will be as exciting. The Giro has been fabulous and the format great. To some extent, I am kinda hoping that Simoni can pull it off, and that di Luca podiums. In any event regardless of who wins, its been super fun to follow.
I have been watching it on RAI in Italian (which I don’t understand) and the added flavor has made the battle even more interesting.
I love that the final climb is up across a goat path that is pretty much impassible except on foot.
Sunday will decide the winner. Very cool.

I have talked about that climb so much that I think my wife is even going to watch.
18.5 Kilometers at 9.2% sounds pretty unreal, and a significant portion at the end is gravel or something like that. I’ll make the not-so-bold prediction that the Giro will be decided there.
They really ought to forget about the secrecy and put publicly displayed powermeters on the protour riders. How sweet would it be to see those numbers when they are attacking or climbing, or attacking on the climbs, or sprinting for the win, etc.
Best show on earth, look at last year, 2nd man on the team got to take the overall win.
Had Basso not hurled for 8 hrs, it might look more like the TDF with Basso playing Lance’s part. I’m crying as DiLuca soars backwards. Nice to have the top riders only a few minutes apart as well. I think Discovery will do the Giro-Tour double. Not totally sure why the Giro isn’t the perfect race to get ready for the TDF. I would guess the pro’s are training about that distance anyway, some of the stages are fairly slow until the end, and usually the mountain stages are pretty tame outside of one or two. Think how many pounds Ullrich might have lost in the last 2 weeks, and only true men win the Giro TDF in one season. Now that’s how Lance should have gone out.

Good point, Jan always does better in the second half of the tour. Perhaps if he did the giro and started peaking toward the end???

I have yet to miss a stage of the Giro, it has been truly brilliant. I have the OLN webcast and for audio went with the free eurosport radio broadcast.
Tommorows stage is going to be nuts with Lampre attacking all day because Simoni really wants this one. Savoldelli is going to be attacked all day long and I don’t think he is going to be able to hold his lead. Cunego road easy today and is going to be a great asset to Simoni, his ride tommorow is the key to a Lampre victory
How about Rujano, what a suprise he has been.
Can’t wait for tommorow!
