This guy knows more than anyone here about aerodynamic drag [photo]

The position of the carp is not fortuitous I am sure.

having spoken with him at length, drag isn’t his main concern, he has more complex issues like drag to lift to power RATIOS

not just drag to power ratios

not to mention much higher manueverability constraints
.

But I bet the dimple-effect of the scales makes up for it.

It’s not a question of where he grips it! It’s a simple
question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut.

That looks like a classic lifting body design on the carp to me.

Might even be making it easier. I’m sure that’s why we see all
those flying carp.

Completely off topic, but shouldn’t your posts be in all CAPS Owen? I like the name!

Cheers,

Mike

It would be better if two of them used a strand of creeper held under the dorsal guiding feather to carry it.

if that isn’t an “oh shit” moment and look on that carps face, I am not too sure what would be.

Notice how the carp has the open mouth smile like Wellington? That is to optamize O2 intake to the lungs. On another note if lance had fins on his bike imagine what he could do.

I have seen this many times with ospreys during fly fishing trips. They immediately turn the fish into aero postion. The Bald Eagles, our national bird, are too stupid to figure this out and carry the trout sideways. I guess just attacking a difficult situation with brute force is the American way  Another funny thing about the Eagles is that they try to steal fish from Ospreys and will literally snatch from the talons of the smaller bird. Won’t comment on any nationality issues with regard to that behavior…

Lungs?

seat is too high
needs to close his mouth

That carp looks a little cooked. In my opinion, that’s due to the fact that it was swimming using a low cadence.

You’ve got it all wrong, the fish caught the Osprey.

African or European?

Hold on… It’s the FINMAN in his new wetsuit… getting a illegal lift to T1!

Cervelo makes birds?

Great picture but if the fish would close his mouth I suspect he would go faster.

So does this mean zipp will be putting scales on their wheels
instead of dimples.
