This announcement didn't get much press (GW irreversible)

NOAA claims Climate Change is irreversible.

I would think this news would feed into everyone’s psychosis.

Oh it does, it surely does.

I saw this yesterday and have been wondering why it took so long to make it here - and with little response. Still waiting. I guess Bush/Obama bashing is more fun.

Yawn. Everyone knows GW is a big hoax.

For the sake of argument let’s just say the claims are true. Now what? Is someone going to mandate a change to the way the world populates and uses resources for the next millennium? No. Will a small change help? Not likely. Sounds like our future generations are screwed if the argument is accurate.

Since it doesn’t mention Obama or Muslims no one saw it.

Interesting and worrisome but I also don’t see it as a reason to stop making changes in our burning of fossile fuels. Perhaps the best we can do is ensure we have clean air for the people who have to live with the consequences of our actions.

I’ll be dead before it gets too bad. No sweat.

Keep in mind, the article said the effects are irreversable. It didn’t say they couldn’t get worse.

Oh I know. It likely will get worse. But, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stop making changes in the burning of fossil fuels. Cleaner air to breathe is a good thing whether is stops the progression or not. Dirty air has more effects than global warming.

That’s my whole point. We most definitely should be working toward that. Just because the future is grim no matter what doesn’t mean that we should just say screw it and kill the planet faster.

Whoa - someone agrees with me.

It seems like this dire view is starting to fade as more and more scientists speak out against the hype voiced by global warming alarmists:

James Hansen’s Former NASA Supervisor Declares Himself a Skeptic - Says Hansen ‘Embarrassed NASA’, ‘Was Never Muzzled’, & Models ‘Useless’

ahh bull shit. Ice storm today in Dallas. Global warming my ass. Reality is that we know relatively nothing about this planet. Ten thousand years from now humans will look back at the people today who worry their asses off about global warming perhaps the same we we look back at the cavemen who worried shitless about the fire going out once they happened to ignite something for the first time.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read my Sunday paper a few weeks ago and it quoted a scientist warning of a coming ice age.

So I googled and found the following:

Science is written by men—you can’t take it too literally.

three negatives!?!?! okay, “stop” isn’t really a negative, but that sentence is a labyrinth.

LOL! Sorry, that was pretty bad, wasn’t it?

This is what I should have said: But, that doesn’t mean we should stop

Asking people to pollute less is the least of your worries. I’m starting to think we are really going to get to the point where geoengineering is attempted.

People see GW as a storm that will pass thru like a squall - and who knows, maybe it will miss my neighborhood. All we got to do is get our markets back tip top and everything will be OK again.

From the Time article in 1974…that was only 34 years ago friends!

“when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age.”

Note that “the atmosphere has been growing cooler for three decades” and “the trend shows no indication of reversing”

So if you were on the climatological bandwagon in the 70’s your position would have been “we are responsible for global cooling!” Now, scientists have reversed their stance and suddenly the trend is “global warming” and again it’s “irreversible”.

Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. And probably mess up a bunch of other stuff in trying to “fix” something that isn’t broken.

And what you should learn from history is to not believe the mainstream media’s misrepresentation of the underlying science. The view presented by Time in 1974 did not reflect scientific thinking at the time.
