There are some videos on the HB that don’t have all of the swearing.
Is this pushing it a little? Our season starts 2nd week of February.
It’s kinda played out really. Besides, though you will get “the joke”, the 7-year old girls will be calling themselves “Honey Badgers”…if you ask them I’m sure they would rather be the “Unicorns” or the “Fluffy Arctic Seals”. It may be a funny name for a soft ball team full of sloshed fat guys but not 7 year olds…IMO…
They don’t give a shit.
As a teacher, if one of my students told me that daddy named her soccer team after a video that was inappropriate for her to watch, it would be difficult for me not to form a certain opinion of him. Mostly, as mentioned above, that he was pretty played out.
Why not let the girls name the team?
The past few seasons the kids have chosen.
I decided (after writing my op), that if I have to ask, then it is a bad idea.
Thanks.
I could think of a few hundred that would be better so why not just try something else? It’s not like there is a shortage of names…

It would have worked if more people knew about honey badgers. The was actually a kids educational cartoon on this past weekend discussing how tough these critters are and how they fear nothing. If more people knew about them it would have been a great name as it falls right in line with other team names promoting badassiness.
Just think of how intimidated the Cobra team would have been.
To quote Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear: “A Honey Badger does not kill you to eat you. It just tears off your testicles.”
Hmm, maybe not the best association for a 7 year old girl soccer team.

atta boy
When my daughter was in kindergarten and we were forming a new “Indian Princess” group (dads & daughters), one dad wanted to name the tribe “Mankillers”. He was serious. For five year olds.
Instead, the girls picked “Dancing Dolphins.”
Let them pick.
Great advice!
I did that and ended up coaching the Sea Cucumbers…didn’t exactly flow off the tongue well when other teams did the ol’ “2-4-6-8 Who do we appreciate” cheer. But the kids loved it because it was their idea.
How about the Narwhals?
.
My teams in the past have been-
Pinkalicious (Girls U5)
The Purple Rockstars (Girls U6)
The Pink Hearts (Girls U5)
The Lightning (Girls U7)
The Snowflakes (Girls U7)
They have all been voted on by the teams (with a little steering direction from the parents).
Will probably have each girl come to our first practice with 3 name ideas. I have tried a vote in the past and ended up with 1 vote for each name. Will either throw them all in a hat and pull one out to decide, or look at the list and pick my top 3 for a vote.

It’s already been used… so 2011.

That made me giggle…but I have a dirty mind. Heh.
Just don’t name them “honey beavers,” that might cause an issue
.
Yeah, I was gonna reply with a few very inappropriate names, but used my better judgement (for once).
That’s what I deleted.
