There were two identical twin brothers that showed up for try outs one year on my son’s hockey team. Kids couldn’t tell them apart at first so they referred to them as Thing-1 and Thing-2. Both made the team and everyone played together for a few seasons and they became distinguishable. But they were still referred to as Thing-1 and Thing-2.
Yeah, that’s just not fair. I’d mix that up all the time.
There was a period of time when I was simultaneously dating two women both named Anna. I had to be very attentive to detail when responding to text messages from “Anna”.
At one time Michigan State Basketball had two guards named Korie Lucious and Kalen Lucas. Same size and build and similar games. I didn’t have a problem with it but announcers screwed it up every game.
I had to phone and change the birthdate on my kid’s plane ticket (international flight). Husband was close, only off by 1 day. Ever since, I second guess which day is right. Damn him!!
Oldest was born at 6:29pm on the 29th. Youngest was born on July 26 at, wait for it, 7:26pm. CREEPY.
My birthday is May 20th. About 15 years ago my father and stepmother got it into their heads that May 21st was my birthday. The first year I found it odd they didn’t call me on my birthday but called the next day. I just assumed they got busy or forgot. The next year was the same thing. A call on the 21st. At that point I just thought it was funny. Year three… same thing. This time I asked my dad, “You do know my birthday is the 20th and not the 21st, right?” Dad: “Since when?” Me: “Since 1970.”
He then yells to his wife, “When is GMAN’s birthday?” Her: “The 21st.”
He had it right the 40 years previous to that so I’m not sure why they suddenly thought it was the 21st. They’re back on track now.
Son and daughter have birthdays on a 22nd and 24th. A March and an April. I sometimes forget which one has what date but I know my daughter was born in April. I know it’s April because she was conceived during IM Lake Placid the prior year. Somehow my wife knew it was that moment vs. any of the other times.
We told our daughter that. She gave us a TMI response at the thought.
Side comment: I was at a new physiotherapist the other day and the receptionist asked me for my emergency contact phone number. I rattled off my wife’s number and she was genuinely impressed, and mentioned how barely anyone knows their spouse’s phone number by heart. I thought that was odd but I guess a sign of the times. If you grew up with smart phones you probably don’t remember many numbers beyond your own.
Timothy Olyphant and Josh Duhamel get mixed up a lot too. Olyphant had Duhamel take a photo with Olyphant’s family and sent it out as their Christmas card.
I do know my wife’s cell phone number. Cause I use it all the time rather than looking up in contacts. The only time I use her middle name is when I book airplane tickets
