I finally got around to renewing my passport today (it expires in May) and as part of the routine procedure they cancelled it. I am now unable to fly internationally until I get my new one (in about 3 weeks) - and although I technically don’t need it for driving across the border, it generally makes it easier. I’m not sure what crossing with a passport stamped CANCELLED/ANNULE might be like.
I didn’t really have any plans to fly in the next three weeks, but for some weird reason it feels constricting anyway…
Thought you might of had to switch to the Paralympics., but no, you just didn’t renew your passport.
Come up with a better story next time. And maybe embellish so there’s some blood or gore, or at least a scantilly clad mysterious leggy brunette staring at you in a smokey bar?

I’ve actually considered this… This winter as the ski season slipped away and I was getting increasingly pissed off with my strained adductor (that still hasn’t healed, btw!) I was ready to get a double-amp and race in a sitski. If they don’t work, why the hell am I carting them around?
That’s for a renewal based on the new “simplified procedure” - which really is easier. I have no idea how long it might take if you’ve never had one before.
You don’t actually need a passport to drive across the border, it just makes things go smoother as the border guards can swipe it and you pop up on their screen. They’re happy because it made their job a bit easier, and when they’re happy they tend to be friendlier. At least that’s been my experience.
What happened with the leggy brunette in the bar? Did you get lucky in the mens room with her? Details! and don’t mention the passport ever again! That was a stupid story! LOL

But I think that is changing in June 09 or is that just for the Caribbean? In terms of applying for visas, passports in reality expire 3 months before their expiration date since many places that require a visa also require 3 months on your passports beyond your visa stay. Last year, my daughter’s renewal took 8 weeks for a US passport but I think it is slightly faster now.
Be specific (I should remember this one as I write specifications for a living. Not much of a living, but they aren’t great spec’s so it’s only fair! LOL)
Don’t ask a question unless you really want an answer! LOL again
