Thanks for the advice on my thread a few weeks ago. Here’s my update:
I have 135 pages, am nearly done - one more (short) chapter to write and some revisions to do.
Revising these things is the longest, most boring task EVER. It takes like 45 min. sometime to track down a couple articles to cite some point I’ve made, or track down initial data to verify it/scan it to be part of the thesis, etc. All these little tiny interminable things. At least that is better than scrambling to write stuff.
My advisor has read everything to date. I had a committee meeting yesterday and convinced each committee member (there are 2) to read a chapter. I’ve spent the morning polishing these and they’ve been successfully mailed in.
It’s in the specified Grad School format. They’re picky. I still need to make a Table of Contents and number all the tables and figures.
I’m excited about creating the PowerPoint for the defense.
I was a little bit pushy with my advisor. I am not sure what is supposed to go in that one more short chapter. In the meeting yesterday, she pointed out to my committee that “it’s not typical for a grad student to be this far along - most of them are scrambling.” So later when she asked if I needed anything else, I looked her straight in the eye and said “I need to know what goes in that last chapter, because I don’t scramble to write stuff.” She is meeting with me Tuesday, maybe so soon because I was so assertive. I am not sure if this is assertive or pushy but it worked
It’s due in 17 days, and I will not miss my deadline. BTW… for the most part I’m still getting 2 sports in a day, and enough sleep.
I decided I want to go to PhD school, so I’ve started looking.
The LR will not be getting mentioned in the dedication or acknowledgements, but I appreciate the support and sarcastic comments and “GET WRITING” kicks from the last post anyway. so thank you.

You’re just fine. You have to make things happen. Being assertive is going to serve you better in the end than being meek and waiting for them to act.
“The theory that men with low agreeability out-earn their nicer counterparts was proven in four different studies. People who perceive themselves to be less agreeable earned an average of 18% more than their more-agreeable coworkers.”
Back up your files and email your latest draft to a couple people you are close with for safe keeping. Its right about now your hard drive is most likely to go belly up
Well, my thesis was basically 4 peer-reviewed journal articles stapled together with an intro and a general summary. The whole peer-review process and editing for journal format definitely kept the overall thesis length down. Then again, I’m not sure if all disciplines/schools smile upon this kind of thesis format.
