There it is, my new tri bike design, like discussed earlier this year

Yes.

I speak a lot of English but it isn’t my native tongue and I didn’t know the term apologies.

I have spoken to a few other brands. and the outcome of that design isn’t as aero. I understand it helps with reaching the brakes, but at the moment I don’t have plans to make such a product. Sorry

What I lose in aero I certainly gain in descending and climbing.

Especially with my apparent love of hilly bike courses.

But I fully understand I’ll be in the minority.

Sorry about that

Trek has the volume to support different bar models. I won’t make enough to satisfy my suppliers production volume if I split it between 2 models.

What would be the estimated weight for a Medium with wheelset?

Fair enough. I love the inititive and all the integration. I’m guessing the pad stack range will be lower than the Cervelo due to it’s design. As a lot of people, I sized up from a 54 into a 56 to get the pad reach I needed. UDH perhaps?

As soon as we have the first arriving in about 3 weeks I will let you know.

Very interested…. Will you have website with further information and be shipping to the US?

(I went high base bar on my Trek Project one for this very reason. I’m all legs no spine, so seat height is really high - 785mm to clamp, and then that means that there is a massive drop from my shoulder line to the top tube).

Edit to see @culpritbicycles referred to this after.

If you brand any bicycle component with Vanquish, it is likely that you will be sued by HED.

I’m with Jim. I saw the pics and my first thought was, “Hey, Hed has new wheels.”

They might not have an issue with the bike being called Vanquish but I wouldn’t risk putting that name on the wheels. It’s just asking for a C&D from Hed.

That’s… not really how it works. The requirement to defend trademarks - or lose them - makes it really difficult for a company to just let something that pretty clearly infringes go without action. And this definitely infringes.
I know that any of the companies I have worked for in the past would have forwarded this on to counsel already.

I would caution against the label on the frame as well, since it’s still the same industry (high performance cycling).

Yup. I’d be surprised if trying to use the name on a frame didn’t wind up being a problem, but there’s essentially zero chance with it on wheels.

Whilst clearly not good for Jeroen, I have to admit I am looking forward to the ‘Name my bike’ thread that spins off from the plague of lawyers descending on him.

We’ll take Bikey McBikeface as a given.

I looked into this and did a search on trademarks registered at the trademark agency.
But not on any search Hed popped up as having Vanquish registered as a trademark at all.
Not saying they haven’t or that we are in anyway want to confuse or mislead customers or potential customers but I couldn’t find any trademark registration at all for that name being it wheels, road bikes, etc.
I found Aston Martin and dozen’s of others, looked into them all spending an afternoon on it. But even the agency, when you request a trademark for a name, does an automatic search to find existing and conflicting or possible trademark infringement holders and just only Aston Martin came up as they have registered the name for motorized vehicles which fell under the same umbrella.

Jeroen

United States law prioritizes “first to use” a name in commerce. The name does not have to be trademarked in order to be protected.

There’s gotta be at least half a dozen people on this site, if not in this exact thread who could put you in touch directly with Anne. Seems like a $0 chat now would be better than having to worry about a billable hours chat down the road.

To be fair I’m considering this already, although I have no intention to sell wheels in the US and we do seem to have a different view on trademark or name owner ship in the EU.

If you put “Vanquish” on any bicycle component, you are infringing on HED’s original use of that name.
