"Then, now and always" - You're fired! - ACC coach firings

Sounds like RFK. These days, the third base seating section shakes up and down about 4+ inches if the fans get going enough. RFK in its Redskin days was famous for this, and makes (still) for a great venue.

btw - the Orange Bowl bowl game is not played in the Orange Bowl anymore, so if you were there recently, you were actually in Joe Robbie/Dolphin Stadium.
Oh, please. girlfriend. I live in SF and used to live in Miami. Miami didn’t start when you moved there, you know! My OB trips for UM were years ago. Not sure of year, but would have been 1990 or before, estimating by who I was with and the dates of divorces. I was at Dolphins games there before JR Stadium was built. Might have been UM and Oklahoma.

You might want to recheck your numbers. The largest crowd ever at the OB was in 1995 (81,753 - Nebraska vs. Miami). Since then, the OB was renovated, in 1996, to accomodate professional soccer. The capcity is now 72,319. Notre Dame stadium holds 80,795 and has sold out 192 consecutive times (before the start of the 2006 season).

No, my numbers are correct. The stadium holds 72,000+ but can be expanded with bleacher seating to hold up to 80-some thousand.

I guess there hasn’t been a BIG game in the OB since 1995.

The ones that come to mind are Penn State in '99 and several of the FSU v Miami games around that time. I haven’t been to a game since '01, so this is just what I recollect.

I dont think shannon will get the job, of course I could be wrong. First, their problem since 2004 has been offense. They always have a good defense and the already promoted from within, dont think they will do it again. People are asking for a “sexy” big time, knock me off my socks name to replace Cocker. I wish Jimmy will leave the keys and drive 60 miles north to the gables but whoever it is needs to be a top of the food chain recruiter.

Peace

Isnt this the case in EVERY major school, not only for football for for every major sport. Actually football players stay 4 or 5 years, unlike basketball.

It’s Miami… everything has to be sexy. I’m sure whomever they get, they will pay them top dollar (again, it’s Miami). Given the current discipline problems, there’s not f—ing way that Jimmy’s ever coming back… I think another NCAA probation would do a lot more damage than any coach could.

I think Coker was so jovial before the game b/c he probably already has another gig lined up. Everyone said back in 2001 that his national championship was built on Butch Davis’ recruiting abilities… and that was certainly proved true. Miami can probably get anyone they want to replace him. Who wouldn’t want that job?
