Still aren’t available. But, here is what I did for a fellow slowtwitcher in my store. I snapped a pic while we were doing the setup.
Bontrager extensions w/ Profile hardware. Email me if you’re interested.

You can mount the extensions under the bar to get lower. Additional hardware needed - spacers and long bolts. See “Frankenstein aerobars for roadies” thread
Very nice, Dude. To me, on a road bike this is the proper way to do it…otherwise you just end up way too high. How are those armrests during out-of-the-saddle climbing? Do they hit your knees at all?
So, do the Bontrager extensions fit the Profile Carbon Stryke aerobars?
"How are those armrests during out-of-the-saddle climbing? Do they hit your knees at all? "
That’s the part that sucks. It’s impossible to get a good stroke going up hill.
Yes, should work just fine.
nearly all aerobar extension are 22.4mm. I know for sure that HED, Oval, and Profile (and apparently Bontrager) are all interchangeable. Oval has more bends and styles than you can shake a fist at, so I bet one of those companies has the extensions you want. Pair it up with profile hardware and you’re rockin’
Hmmm…guess I’ll stick with putting the Hed cliplites on my next road bike…
“That’s the part that sucks.”
you can go a lot further forward.

stick those bolts thru the armrests’ rearward holes and shove those armrest trays over the road bar.
“…Still aren’t available…”
Sure about that? While you can’t find them on their site, they did show up in the latest Performance Bike snail-mail catalog…
And, The Dude, that bike is a bit baffling to me: it’s a road bike decked out with Record Carbon, has “fancy” aerobars (fine, no problem, good idea for ITU-style racing), but then it has canti brakes? Cheaper than Record calipers, for sure, but I’m guessing cost wasn’t the issue. What gives? And are you just using a carbon cross fork for that?
Unless they hit land yesterday, they still aren’t available. Regardless of what Performance has in their catalog.
What about just zip ties around the drop bars? Would that be a possibility with the F-19 armrests? Save a bit of hardware weight and keep the pads at bar level…
I don’t really “get” S bends. Don’t they cause you to cock your wrists at unnatural angles? They certainly look more aero but not more comfy than traditional. Of course I have never tried them so don’t know what the hell I am talking about. Can anyone who has them comment on this…are they ok for long rides?
i have actually angled my one piece eastons downward a bit and grip low on the bar where it transitions from vertical to horizontal to get a semi-s-bend curve.
i find it more comfortable to angle my wrists in that manner… length of rides… anywhere up to 7 hours
They are actually pretty comfortable. It makes me put all my weight on the armrests which is a lot more comfortable and keeps my hands loose on the aero bars. Just make sure that you have the arm rests adjusted and there isn’t any extra length in the back.
Dude…
Tell me about the spacers you used on the Jammer set-up it allow you to mount the extensions underneath, but yet raise the armpads over the bar.
I’m assuming you’re using a longer allen-bolt and some small pipe/ferrule, correct?
It depends on how you like to hold your aero extensions. If you like to wrap your hands completely around the bars, like you’re holding a baseball bat, like most people…then you’ll find the s-bends a bit weird, if not just plain wrong-feeling. If, however, you like to run your thumbs straight forward, sort of like you are holding a fishing rod or a pistol grip, then you’d likely find the s-bends to your liking. My wrists are completely straight with the s-bends, and I have more of the palm of my hand in contact with the bar…as opposed to standard upturned bends…because I still hold those exactly the same, but my thumbs create a gap between the palm of my hand and the bars…not as comfortable to me.
Hope that explanation helps.
What hardware did you use? Is it from the Profile Jammer?
Can you order just the armpads/mounting hardware from Profile?
I was also thinking to prevent the knee to pad smashing that you could use something like the Profile Multi-Fit system like from the Profile Airstryke or Split seconds then you could flip them up when standing:
http://www.nytro.com/Profile_Multi-Fit_System.html
pair these with HED or Oval S-bends and you’ve got some nice S-bends with usable pads…
Very similar. Profile F-22
ok thanks - and the mounting hardware (pad to bar, aerobar to handlebar) is from a Jammer?
