The worst chick flicks for men? The Meet Joe Black Thread?

Since there is a worst movie theme going on, I figured I would narrow it down. My wife constantly makes me watch chick flicks that she has prescreened. In the name of love, I have watched some of the worst chick flicks ever, including:

Serendipity
Walk to Remember
Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood
Some movie about Traveling Pants
Message in a Bottle
Calendar Girls

But the worst chick flick movie that I have ever had to endure was, by far, Meet Joe Black. Over 3 hours of my own personal hell. And death was there! On the screen ! And he had sex with the female lead. And death cried! Give me a frickin break!

It goes on my all time worst movie list too, but the number one on that list is Eye of the Beholder followed closely by Only the Lonely.

What is the movie where James Garner is narrating his and his wife’s life to her as she has alheimers (sp)?

CHIIIIIIIIIIICK FLIK!

My buddy and I refer to that movie as Smell Joe’s Crack (Meet Jo Black).

This is how horrible that movie is … while dating I would rather go to bed without sex than sit through that flic and have sex afterwards.

Honestly, Legends of the Fall ain’t too far behind Smell Joe’s Crack.

This is the great thing about being married for a decade … I don’t do chick flics.

The Notebook! Wow, forgot about that one. I think that is another Nicolas Sparks movie where he always kills at least on main character.

I have only been married for 7 1/2 years. 2 1/2 years to go until I can get out of this misery? I actually saw Meet Joe Black with a girlfriend of mine in college. We literally broke up over the fact that I hated the movie. And the fact that I knew (and told her) what was going to happen the rest of the movie when Pitt’s character gets hit by the car in the beginning.

I have to disagree with meet Joe Black. The scene where he is a ping pong ball in traffic?! Priceless. I seriously lost control and just started laughing hysterically. I must have rewound that part at least 20 times and watched it over and over again. Just thinking about it to this day gives me a grin. Now I think I need to see if someone has uploaded that scene onto the internet for my viewing pleasure. If I find it I will edit this post for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Found it!

Agreed.

If I remember right, hysterical laughter at that part (and the part where Brad Pitt is speaking “Cajun Witch Doctor” or whatever dialect he was using) usually gets you excused (without penalty) from watching the entire flic. Awesome.

What ever that new movie is coming out that was written by the guy who wrote The Hours. With the line “We are mysterouis creatures aren’t we.” I would rather have my nuts cut off.

I would also like to niminate “For Love of The Game” w/ Kevin Costner as a baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers.

Guys are duped into this atrosity of a chick-flic by the prospect that it’s really a baseball movie. The baseball parts featuring a predictable and sappy story aided by non-jocks playing the athletic parts (I hate that). I’m tired of watching actors swing a bat like it was a broom and throw like my sister … actually a lot worse than my sister.

I love Costner for making Field of Dreams and Bull Durham, but I want his head on my wall for tricking me into watching this “please chop my nuts off” movie. I give it 3 vaginas out of 4.

The only reason I can sit through For the Love of the Game is because I get to listen to Vin Scully. A throwback to the days when my dad and I would listen to Dodgers games on the radio together. You can’t beat the line “He’s pitching against time” in Vin’s classic voice. I think the vagina meter has to be dialed back to 2 out of 4 just because of Vin.

Meet Joe Black was beyond chick film. It was so horrible that I think it can’t fit into one sleeve and just be awful. If we caught and excuted anyone who liked this movie and all of Kevin Costners fans the world would be a better place.

Hmmm I have seen none of these. As a chick, is there some kind of obligation to see them?

You could use them to torture your husband or significant other. My wife liked them. I did not, but since I am a nice guy I continue to watch them with her.

I don’t think there’s an obligation for girls to see them, just to force their boyfriend/husband to watch them.

It’s a form of mind control. Add shitty movies to sleep deprevation and talking about nothing women are the queens of dumbing a man down to a slavish troll.

If I have to watch Pretty Woman one more time I think my head will explode.

Thelma and Louise.

Tibbs! Bull Durham? Come on now, that is a GREAT movie.

I am with you on Meet Joe Black, even Hannibal couldn’t save that one.

Bull Durham was great despite Kevin. That film was pure joy when they where on the field or when they where traveling. The love story blew donkeys and Kevins role could have been played by anyone.
