The Walking Dead: Morgan

We have some time on our hands, so why not? What do we know about, and what do we guess is happening and will happen with Morgan?

We know he is following the tree signs carved by Gareth and the Hunters. We don’t know why, or if he is following them or just the signs.

We know it is some time after Rick and company have passed through (growth on the sign by the railroad tracks), but not a lot (Bob’s leg is still there; or do scavengers not bother with “tainted meat”? :-).

We know that he was not knowingly following Rick, judging by his facial expression after reading Rick’s name on the map.

Do we know anything else?

Speculation:

He appears not to be armed for bear: not carrying tons of weaponry. His demeanor seems to be that of one who is not concerned about zombies very much: just seems to walk around calmly without constant scanning for threats.

I had a thought that his initial outfit (hoodie, face mask, etc.) might make him unnoticeable to zombies: no odor from exposed skin?

I suspect that, since the tree signs end between the church and the school, that now he’ll follow the map in hopes of catching up with Rick. For that to come about, Rick will also have to follow the map, which means following Noah north to Baltimore or wherever his city with walls was. Will Noah want to look for his family first?

Will Morgan show up in a “just in time” moment, or under more prosaic conditions? His laughter in the church shows either some continuing instability or mere cynicism/ironic view of life.

February is a long time away.

Didn’t Rick tell Morgan about Terminus? I’ve always just thought Morgan decided to go there. He doesn’t know that it was really a bad place.

Does anyone have a link to the promo with Morgan? My DVR cut off just as he picked up the map.

I think Morgan will catch up with Rick’s group at some point. I’m assuming he got out of his funk and finally decided to listen to Rick and go to Terminus. I don’t understand what the tree symbols mean and wouldn’t Morgan need some sort of legend to figure them out to follow them?

It will be interesting to see where the rest of the season goes since it seems all the story lines have wrapped up. Slabtown is over, the trip to DC is over, issues at the church are over.

So it that Rick’s writing on the map?

Morgan is that relaxed because after surviving both the nuclear apocalypse and the zombie apocalypse he has gotten a little jaded.

That would be my guess. He won’t be shown for awhile and then when it appears they are in a hopeless situation he’ll come in to save the day.

So it that Rick’s writing on the map?

The writing is Abraham’s: he gave that map to Rick with the hope that Rick would follow Abraham to D.C.

That’s right, now I remember.

My forecast for Morgan is that they will continue to tease him to get ratings because people like the actor and want to see where it goes. I don’t think he will be a fighting white knight. I think he’ll end up serving the same purpose (or lack thereof) here that his character did on Jericho. He’ll be the guy that seems to know what is going on, but he’ll never actually say anything.

I’m setting my expectations low so I can be pleasantly surprised.

Walking Dead must be coming back soon as Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan are doing interviews on the late night shows!

Yeun on Conan - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej092tY36IY&index=89&list=WL

Cohan on Kimmel, talking about getting pulled over in her TWD costume - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIAErpwz8Uo&index=93&list=WL

Yeah – this Sunday! Also, “Better Call Saul.”

I have a hard enough time as is getting TV time to watch TWD, I don’t think the wife will go for BCS. We shall see, I’ve heard BCS is good.

I love it. I wish that show lasted longer than it did.
