The ultimate Sangria recipe

I need the ultimate Sangria recipe for a family party. Any suggestions?

Carl-

Red or white?

Either would work, but I am only familiar with red.

Here is a basic Red - Both of these, they say drink right away, but they always taste better if they sit for a while @ 4-6hrs. Makes 4 glasses Difficulty: Very easy Preparation time: 10 minutes Ingredients 3 1/4 cups ( 26 fl. oz) dry red wine 1 tablespoon sugar Juice of 1 large orange Juice of 1 large lemon 1 large orange, sliced thin crosswise 1 large lemon, sliced thin crosswise 2 medium peaches, peeled, pitted and cut into chunks 1 cup (8 fl. oz) club soda Preparation
Combine all the ingredients except for the club soda in a large punch bowl or serving pitcher, mixing well. Refrigerate overnight. Inmediately before serving, mix in the club soda for added fizz. Ladle into cups with ice cubes.

Here Is a great white Sangria: You can also take out the wine and it is a great one for kids.
Makes 6 glasses 10 minutes preparation Difficulty: Very Easy Ingredients 3 1/4 cups (26 fl. oz) dry white wine 1/3 cup (3 oz) sugar 1/3 cup (5 tablespoons) Triple Sec 1/3 cup (5 tablespoons) peach-flavoured brandy 2 medium peaches, peeled and sliced 2 medium oranges, sliced thin and crosswise 1 cup (8 fl. oz) sparkling orange soda 1 cup (8 fl. oz) ginger ale Preparation In a large serving bowl, combine all the ingredients except the orange soda and ginger ale and mix well. Refrigerate overnight. Immediately before serving, mix in the orange soda and ginger ale. Serve over Ice.

I think we will try both. Thanks.

And to the forum police…sorry I posted in the wrong forum.

These recipes are fine and, depending on the quality of the ingredients, should yield good results.

One trick though - take the time to make “ice cubes” out of orange juice. They’ll only add flavor as they melt- nuthin’ I hate more than watered down booze.

Ummm … flavored cubes!!! Good idea - Thanks.

We make an almost identical recipe to what chpfly posted, but instead of ginger ale, I use a light sparkling red wine like a lambrusco (not Riunite, but the real stuff). I prefer Rossa di Rossa (Banfi’s Rosa Regale is the closest thing to a real lambrusco you can generally find in the US, but it is far to nice to put in a punch like this), a very flowery sparkling red that adds a bit of sweetness and carbonation without diluting the alcohol content of your Sangria, and it is like $10 per bottle.
Cheers

lambrusco is a good idea… but, I’d have trouble actually getting it into the sangria, it would probably be diverted to keeping the cook happy…

Some tips… use all the fruits as in the real stuff, grapes, apples, orange, the more the better. You can do 1/2 of ginger ale 1/2 of sprite. If you are going to use flavored brandy use the orange flavor.
