You should check the serial number with the National Bike Registry and other registries of stolen bikes – like stolenbikeregistry.com. You could also report it to your local police department to see if they have a report on a bike matching that one. All the pawn shops I called when mine was stolen swore to me that they check serial numbers when they bring bikes in, but I’ve heard from many people including police officers that many pawn shops deal in stolen bikes. Also, the thief may have pawned it before the police put the serial number in the database. Let your conscience be your guide.
