In the only sporting contest that matters on the 4th of July, American Joey Chesnut takes on the immortal Takeru Kobayashi in the annual 4th of July Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Kobayashi is claiming a mandible injury and had a wisdom tooth extracted last month to help relieve the pain, but claims he still cannot open his mouth fully. The challenger, Joey Chestnut, just shattered Kobayashi’s record last month, eating 59.5 dogs in 12 minutes, besting the champ’s record by an incredible 7 whole dogs.
Will the gustatory giant Kobayashi overcome adversity and defend his cherished crown, or will it be a true Independance Day liberation, with Chestnut returning the title to its rightful place, the face-stuffing epicenter of the free world?
