…Just want share the random “ghettoness” of my local town pool…you gotta love the “town pool”- only open in the summer and sits with black water in it the rest of the year. In my town (semi rural Vermont) you pay a couple bucks and you can swim in the one lane while hundreds (maybe a hundred) of kids are frollicking around you. I usually swim at a Y but out of convienence have chosen the “town pool” on a few occasions. I just want to share a few funny things and see if anyone else has any stories. So I get in start my warmup but have shift into open water mode to sight to see how many kids are in the lane—good open water training. The water is pretty choppy from the all the kids jumping off the diving board — there’s lots of things floating in the water I try to not think about. At one point toward the end of my workout while I’m standing on the egde of the pool a little girl walks up and asks me if I’m a “water racer”. I thought about it for a second and told her yeah I am a “water racer”. Then she asked me if I raced the “champion”…I asked her who the champion was but she didn’t know and was already walking away in ADD mode… Then while I was doing some sprint 25’s and was on the other end of the pool I see a kid trying to “pop” my gel that’s sitting with my flipflops…hilarious…ahhh the world of the “town pool” in the summer.
“Ghettoness”?? Feeling a little elitist today are we?
