***Though Bachmann has fallen in the polls since her energetic entrance into the race in June, she is still the first choice of attendee Larry Papp, who said he was supporting her because she espouses Christian values and is “totally genuine.” Papp, a Republican and retired market consultant from Arcadia , said he has ruled out Mitt Romney because he believes he is a political opportunist, and he will not support Texas Gov. Rick Perry because of his record on illegal immigration. His second choice is businessman Herman Cain, who is leading in some national polls. “While Mitt Romney was running around hobnobbing with the social people in Newport, Rhode Island, Herman Cain was washing cars and cleaning toilets,” Papp said. “That’s what I want – somebody who has come up without having everything given to them.” ***
What’s a political opportunist? A politician? Cain cleaned toilets? And nobody has given him everything? I guess Mitt is an elitist and Perry supports illegal immigration.
Honestly, it is scary to hear the American public speak what they are really thinking.
BTW, Bachmann’s campaign is totally broke, so they are going to fold real soon.
Contrary to current trends, I agree with you. The Democrats tend to have the more polarizing candidates but tend to stumble a bit at convincing the public when enacting policy. On the other hand, the GOP candidates appear to have very solid convictions (notice how I didn’t say they were right or wrong) but have no clue how to get out of each others’ asses to convince the public that they’re the right pick for their party.
Personally I just sit back and watch the fireworks and throw in my vote when the polls are open. Most other times, it’s not worth the stress.
It’s not worth the stress. Nothing changes for anybody. People either vote democrat or republican. There is a tiny percentage that votes independent. The entire election is about the independents.
“Honestly, it is scary to hear the American public speak what they are really thinking.”
I totally disagree. The last thing I ever want to be part of is a country where everyone voices the sames opinion because they are afraid to disagree. All of
our collective experiences are different and politics is not a simple math problem. Politics is about personality, charisma and issues that strike at a persons emotions.
Having differing views, no matter how out there we feel they are, is something we must protect at all costs. Even if it scares you. Boo.
OK, wow, thanks, for a minute there I thought you weren’t talking about America. Politics in America is absolutely NOT about the issues. It’s about if the guy looks like he can chop wood, do they have the right type of dog, does he use teleprompter.
Politics is about personality, charisma and issues that strike at a persons emotions.
Abortion is an issue people care about. It’s also about emotions. Same with war/peace, gun control…Some people certainly do care about looks and personality. However, if you were voting for “manliness”, i.e. “a guy that looks like he can chop wood” in the last election 100% of the vote would have gone to McCain.
