The Sopranos and pop culture

I went to iTunes to download a song and Journey’s "Don’t Stop Believin’ " (played at the end of the finale of The Sopranos) was in the top twenty!

2 things to notice. check out the outfit on the drummer at the 10 second mark. Looks like Scott Tinley in 1988. also, great 80’s outfits in the crowd.

I have had soooo much of this song lately. The White Sox adopted it for the 2005 World Series run. Here’s a video of Steve Perry in Oct 2005 at the pep rally earning money to pay his rent …

apologies in advance for the following hijack. at least Soprano’s didn’t use Journey’s Separate Ways. oh, the fond recollections of the unintentionally humorous music video. nice 80’s flashback, leather minishirts, high top sneakers, high heeled boots, etc. Oh my, the DRAMA that is steve perry is fantastic. can he sing WITHOUT making the climax faces? you’ve all seen air guitar, well here we got air guitar, air bass, air keyboard. LOVE the turned-up collars.

and, for those true students of pop culture, this is NOT the first time that Journey ended up in a movie/episode. Remember rodney dangerfield blasting Anyway You Want It out of his golf bag stereo in Caddyshack??

ok, in the interests of full disclosure, all of these are on my iPod.

I had enough of that song during the 2005 world series (It was the ChiSox theme).

I must be the only American that doesn’t watch the Sopranos. Consering that I also don’t watch American Idol, and I’m an island.

By the way, that last scence was pretty chilling huh? I love/hate it for all the same reasons.

I am sitting at working thinking, “I hope Tony is Ok.” haha

I don’t watch TV… so I actually just caught the end at a friends’ house… OK ending I guess…

I watched season 1 of both Sopranos and Oz. I really liked Oz until it turned into semi-gay porn. I lost interest in the Sopranos in season 2. I found Tony to be annoying, and his kids were just painful to watch.

Just finished watching Rescue Me, Season 3 on DVD. Prett good, but it’s rapidly declining. Maybe season 4 picks back up.

When is the new season of The Shield coming out on DVD/Netflix?
