The Science of Speed workshop at SBR NYC

Anyone attend this workshop? How many people attended it and was it worth the cost of admission? What did you learn from this and from which speaker?

Hey Wayne,

I was there, but working the Compex booth- pretty good turnout- tight fit inside tho. Panel was cool too. Can’t say much about what went on in the different groups, but people seemed to enjoy it. Cam Widoff was cool too, workin on a potential sponsorship deal with him. Ill be at the SOS in Austin on April 9th, so I will get to see how that one works out to compare.

I was also at the event, sort of. I was building bikes in the back area. As the “pool” was near by I saw the pool demo like 7 times. It was pretty good from whatr I could tell. The shop is not huge, NYC rent is just a little high, but it was packed. All the people giving the xpo seemed very friendly. If the other staions are as good as the pool satation in NYC I would definitly reccomend attending. =10 dollars is pretty cheap. I would imagine Austin having a similar set up as the store is pretty similar to the SBR Multisport store.

I was there as well. Definitely enjoyed it. Each of the panel members offered their “speed tips” and then we broke into seven groups: heart rate training, nutrition, recovery, swim (endless pool), bike (PowerCranks), run, and Karen Smyers was also doing something else (transitions maybe?). They mistimed it so I didn’t get to Karen, recovery, or the bike. Cam was great in the run session and Steve Tarpinian was great with the pool.

There were probably around 100 people there. Definitely worth the cost of admission in my mind. Like another poster said, it was more than a little cramped. I couldn’t hear half of what was said so overall learning was limited by that. But, it was fun to see such a great turnout in NYC.
