The Ride of Slience

If you have even been injured on your bike or know someone who has, take an hour to participate in The Ride of Silence next week. It is a pretty cool group and they are trying their hardest to fight for cyclists rights.

Thanks for posting. I’ll be doing the ride in Columbus, OH again this year. I see the thread today about the accident in Quebec. This ride is our way to protest what is happening and to mourn our fellow cyclists. Please try to attend.

For those who haven’t attended a Ride for Silence, it isn’t a silent Critical Mass. The ride in Columbus at least has a police escort and starts after rush hour has ended. There is no attempt to antagonize motorists.

This really is an important ride. It’s about demonstrating solidarity while paying respect to our downed brethren. It helps keep the importance of bicycle/car safety in the forefront of the local consciousness. We’ve had one rider killed this year and several others injured in So Fla. This ride and the PR it gets helps keep all of us safer.
Do it tomorrow!

I couldn’t agree more. If you ride, then you know what a close call feels like. Unfortunately too many other riders have gone beyond the close call and have paid the ultimate price.
It’s an hour of your time to honor thousands of people who will never get back on a bike.

Worth it.
