The Register Button

Damn its a scary thing the first time you have to click on it. I just registered for my very first race. Going to do the Oly at the Toyota US Open in Dallas. Been wavering back and forth for about a month now. Figured the only way to get off the fence was to just say F it, and register. I have 3 1/2 months to whip my sorry fat ass into race shape.

The journey has started. Here’s to hoping its as much fun as it appears to be from reading all the posts here on ST.

Don’t worry. Your first race won’t kill you.

Probably.

Good job on the race reg.

Also, if you have any questions regarding “whipping fat asses”, just PM Bottomfeeder…he’s an expert.

Congrats on taking the plunge. Beware though this stuff is really addictive and before you know it you have signed up for an Ironman and your going OH CRAP WHAT HAVE I JUST DONE! LOL Most of all though have fun. Triathletes are a great bunch of people. It really is a great sport.

HA! Congratulations and good for you!!

The first time I clicked on the SUBMIT button for Ironman, my heart rate skyrocketed.

The best thing about pushing that button is that now you will take training more seriously. Knowing you have to be ready or “suffer” the consequences is a great motivator for me.

Like the one girl said to the other in Fast Times at Ridgemont High; “Just keep doing it. It gets MUCH better!”.

I was on vacation in Mexico when IMLP registration opened up. I gave a friend my credit card and info and he went online and signed me up. 2 days into our 7 day vacation I get a text message that just said “You’re in.”

At first I panicked a little bit, then I thought “I’ll worry about THAT when I get home.” Turned off my phone, went to the pool and started drinking…it was about 10am

I was about to vomit when I hit the button for IMCdA. Not sure if it was the thought of spending $475.00 to endure pain or the fact I really have to train and make a commitment. I’ve done to 1/2 IM’s without training in 5:40’s, but just don’t think I can pull the same crap with an IM race.

Good Luck. Are you going to do a shorter before the Oly?

Oly will be the first. My hardcore/ODC nature did not allow me to opt for the sprint distance as my first.

Of course this is the same personality trait that had me doing the Hotter than Hell century ride 4 weeks after buying my first road bike back in the early 90’s.

HA! Congratulations and good for you!!

LOL…I remember last September going through the same thing for IMoo.
I bet my HR was 175 and I kept saying…if I get in and this web page ever loads then I’m set but if I don’t it’s a sign from above.
