The REAL feats of endurance

OK, so if flying around the world isn’t one of the great remaining feats of (human) endurance, what’s left? a few thoughts:

the 3:30 mile?
the sub-2 marathon?
the everest-lhotse traverse?
walking around the world?
swimming across the atlantic?
rowing across the pacific?
a 100th wedding anniversary?

i’m not sure, but i think someone’s in the process of trying to walk around the world. the sub-2 marathon’s not far off. the everest-lhotse is huge and will require another reinhold messner to pull off. as for the others, humans will need to evolve in very different creatures first. . .

Walking around the world has been done. By numerous people I believe. I read a book about an american who did it several years ago. No longer own the book or I would give you a title.

I bet kobayashi could do it. The man did eat 53 1/2 hot dogs in 12 minutes.

that kid (is he still a kid) is AMAZING. The closest competitor was something like 36 dogs. Wasn’t even close, I wonder how many he could eat in 20 minutes. Actually, I’m not so sure I want to see that.

There are plenty of great feats of endurance to still be accomplished on Earth, the ones you listed are all great ones.
I would love to see the 2 hour marathon barrier broken, I wouldn’t be too surprised if it happens in the next ten years as long as the top distance runners in the world (like Tergat and Gebresellasie now) keep choosing to close out their careers by jumping up to the 'thon.
