I believe you’re exactly right.
I think this was what bugged me. People competing for a tangible object, not for the fun, thrill, and sheer joy of racing. And while I know people may not feel the exact same way as me about it, I believe it is somewhat sad to think people race for materialistic reasons. Anyone feel like this?
I don’t think that for many it is a bad thing,I mean if we are to give people who like finisher medals a hard time then why not give the finisher t-shirt wearers just as hard a time?Why have race expos where people buy logo race stuff?
Sometimes I think the people who are overly critical of other peoples motivations are worse than those who are the ones getting all excited about medals and shirts and tattoo’s.Just let people do what makes them all horny for the sport and leave it at that.
