The perfect taper

what is it? a bunch of people i know are doing the FL 1/2. Some of them are not doing any physical activity for 4 days before. While i know i wont lose fitness, i feel i might be a little stiff and take a while to get warmed up in each of the sports during the race. I was thinking (and am doing) a large cutback on volume. Instead of running 6 miles, running 2 or 3. instead of 3 cycling workouts, only 2. also, no instense workouts. and doing this decrease for 12 days. hows that sound

I would suggest very short, high intensity the week of the race. You don’t want to ‘forget’ how to go fast for race day, but you also don’t want to damage and muscle, so keep it short. Doing an easy 5k with 50m sprints every so often 4 days out then a couple short rides and swims up to 2 days before. A day off 2 days before and then a VERY easy ride or swim the day before.

These are just some ideas. Hopfully someone can either call my bluff or expand on what I’ve suggested (I’m trying to put together my own taper in a few weeks).
