The P3C is in Cd'A and the 2000 P3 feels great!

This is interesting. I shipped my P3C off to IM Cd’A. I just love the bike and love riding it, but we are temporarily separated. So, I get out my old P3 (2000 model - original black - 650 wheels) this weekend and it feels great! I really haven’t ridden it at all since getting the P3C 1 1/2 years ago.

Maybe my taper is kicking in, but I felt as good as I have ever felt on a bike. Further, the 9 speed DA seemed smoother than the 10 speed on the P3C. The 650 wheels, compared to the 700s, felt fast and light. The frame felt very responsive. The old Syntace bars felt good and very solid. I was really shocked at how much I enjoyed riding it.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the P3C…is this just a psychological effect of the taper?

Nope, not psychological. That was a great bike, and 650c is still THAT fast.

9spd supposedly is faster. less friction?

Sounds like a weekend with an old girlfriend or the ex-wife.

This is nice to hear since I race an older P3sl with 650 wheels and have resisted the temptation to go to a P3C.

.

Just saw the post that you have a p3 with 650’s, I thought I was the only guy who had one. Hell if you call cervelo for support thier people will claim it was not made. I have 57 with 650c’s. Mine was the charcoal grill black, but had lost a ton of paint so I had it powder coated. Looking back and knowing more about bikes I wish I had held off on painting and sold it. The 57 is a bit to long in the top tube for me. What size is yours?

Mine is a 54. It fits like a glove - as does my 54 P3C. What year is yours? Mine is early 2000. The geometry actually changed at some point - I think they shortened the TT about a cm.

Not to sure I bought it used. the guy I bought it off of told me it was from the first year they made them, so I guess that makes it about a 2000. I was also told that the 57 650 was only made one year. Maybe Gerrard will pop in on this and clear up my mystery.
