The Official Tour de France Predictions thread

Ok folks, three days from the start of Le Grand Boucle, so let’s hear who you have winning, as well as maybe your top 5, Green, white, and polka dot jersey winners.

Bob

ok, how about another doping scandal? Or wouldn’t that classify as a “scandal” anymore. Maybe it would be more of a surprise if there wouldn’t be anybody caught this year.

Who the f#%$ cares about those dopers anyways?

I think people are underestimating Leipheimer…I’d give the nod to Vino-that’s one strong team, but Leipheimer is better than the current betting odds give him credit for. Green: Mcewen, Polka Rasmussen, though I think Moreau may go for it which would make a nice battle.

Stan

I predict the following:

  • a masive %$#$@@$ doping scandal just prior to start time which will require teams to scramble to find enough starters. Evidence: Google “Jorg Jaschke”, and witness Alessandro Petacchis recent DQ for salbutamol abuse.

  • A terrific race once the dopers are DQ’ed. I don’t think Vinokourov will start, David Millar will win the prologue.

  • Team Disco wins the overall with Levi Leipheimer, the spotty jersey to Alberto Contador, and the Green Jersey to Robbie McEwen. White Jersey will go to Thomas Dekker…

  • Paul Sherwen will say “suitcase of courage” at least twenty times.

Other top fives: Cadel Evans, and anybody else who doesn’t DQ.

Word to your mother…

Evans for the overall - he’s the dark horse
Green is for Husvod - McEwan wins alternate years - his form so far this year is a bit ordinary

Slowtwitchers (the aero bike guru’s) should also be making tips for the prologue, My guess is Stuart Ogrady…

Erik Clark… if only he would train (sigh).

Phil Liggett will get the wrong names in at least 15 breakaways, and will mention Lance Armstrong mo less than 3 times per hour of coverage.

For Eurosport fans, David Duffield still won’t have a clue that there is even a race going on. He’ll spend the entire coverage reminiscing about some lovely fish & chips shop in London, or the really nice piece of cheese he had once in .
