This reminds me of how everyone always says how SNL “used to be so funny a couple years a go.” People always look back, and it seems a lot better in retrospect than it does currently. But people have been saying this since I was a kid (A long time ago). (Almost) Everything looks better in hindsight.
I don’t doubt there’s a lot truth to what you say, but a forum that has grown like this has, is simply going to change over time.
Has the forum outgrown your “community” ideal? Maybe. Or maybe you’ve outgrown this forum? You can only read about tubulars vs. clinchers so many times. I think there’s still a lot of good going on. You offered to help me out with something when I was brand new here. I’ll never forget that. In turn, and with that in mind, I loaned my wetsuit to a ST’er in need up in LP in '06. Don’t give up on us yet, dude

For what it’s worth, as a relative newcomer to ST (and years away from triathlon) I’ve been blown away by the collective wisdom and generosity of the folks on this board when it comes to information sharing - especially the professionals who are share their knowledge for free. This is truly an amazing forum.
The smart ass comments that come along the way? Well, that’s just a bonus…

Chip, I remember when you gave me my first pair of road clipless pedals…old school looks. I got a lot of use out of those and when I got my own pair I passed them on to a new cyclist without a lot of money. I really appreciate it Chip and I know that they are still being put to good use.

Yup… and R10C needs to be reminded that in spite of all the bitching there is still a lot of “pay-it-forward” stuff going on thanks to what he started with his TSR effort.

My parents bought my daughter one of these for Christmas. Darn thing is always making noises/moving at you when you least expect it or walk in her room to turn the lights on. It’s scared the crap out of me, my wife and our dog numerous times. I’d love to get it to you to get to Jodi. Maybe this thread can be rescued into some type of craig’s list trading thread where everyone trades up or to something they want.

Ha! I hate those talking toys. My daughter had a talking Ernie doll and it scared the crap out of me more than once. At 3am it would start talking by itself. When the batteries started dying, he sounded like the devil. I can’t imagine a pony that big making noises in the dark!! It would be pretty funny, though, if it ended up on Jodi’s doorstep one day. I’ll pay for the shipping if you can get me the BQ!
