The Official, All Encompassing, Lionel Sanders Thread

“asked his coach” - this doesn’t seem like Iden’s style (of response).
The “Europe block”:
No, no, no and yes

Sorry, I thought it would be obvious that it was a ChatGPT response, aka, his coach.

"For a long time, I thought easy training was a waste of time.

Two hours easy on the bike? Too long to be recovery and too short to be productive. I wanted every workout to feel like it was moving the needle.

The problem is, I spent years trying to reinvent the wheel.

In this video I talk about what I got wrong, what I’ve learned from working with Mikal again, and why so many of the best athletes in the world are able to carry massive training loads week after week.

The answer isn’t 30 hours of hard workouts. A lot of it is really easy training.

Swimming and biking allow you to build a massive amount of aerobic fitness with much less risk than running. Looking back, I had it completely backwards. I was trying to force fitness through intensity instead of building the foundation that allowed me to actually absorb the hard work.

These videos are becoming a bit like letters to my younger self.

Stop trying to reinvent the wheel."

The polymarket for Lionel having another epiphany is the easiest to predict.

I would say Lionel is a “perpetual learner” :joy:

His willingness to change his mind is there which is great and a necessary step to grow. But that’s not the same as learning.

He reminds me of people reading popular physics books or listen to podcasts and think they know why string theory is great (or rubbish if you’re a fan of grifters like Weinstein/Hossenfelder).

OK, maybe “learner” is off the mark, maybe a “serial epiphany-haver”.

I lean more toward Wolowitz, Hofstadter and Cooper.

And still no mention of a race schedule. I’m assuming he isn’t.

Watching now… Wait, are we back on the electrolyte train? I didn’t know we got off?

Earlier in the thread I criticized his propensity to cut straight to a fast run workout because it’s fun and feels productive.

Glad to see his new (old) coach is dragging him away from that near-addiction.

His next video will be about how intensity is over-rated.

Next video will be either, “ All in for Kona 2027”

I did post a IMPL start list which popped up on my feed but turns out it was last years. ?? .:man_shrugging:Still waiting for this year’s list.

it’s out. he’s not on it. what qualifying races are left after LP? https://files.constantcontact.com/a202847d001/69147e9f-1c44-465e-96ee-62f3f2e32477.pdf

I believe Copenhagen would be the only one left.

I can’t remember where I saw this… a post-injury comment on this thread or over on Pro-Tri News… not sure. Someone said that he was definitely out of Placid and was all-in on 70.3 Boise. Maybe that’s a test run of the fitness and make some tweaks for Copenhagen, if the body is holding up???

Also, the new Youtube video acts like he is still nursing the run injury, but he posted on Instagram two weeks ago that he was back to running pain-free.

All in now, peak in time for Oceanside, get injured before Texas?
