That’s got to be the setup for Trek Dealer Expo which starts next week. Trek doesn’t do InterBike…Trek does Madison and there own thing. The black is nice…two years late. In two more years, Trek might highlight their flag ship with a set of S bends. None the less…I love my TTX. It is a fast machine.
The TTX is a great bike. I am not wild about the aerobars (the basebars look great though). I actually liked the yellow best but the new colors are great too. Good work and thanks for the pics!
I was all set to buy one of these when they were to first have come out in early/mid '06. Then they never came and never came. Then when they finally did come, they came with a butt ugly yellow or ass monkey red (no offense to those of you with the previously mentioned colors). The '08 colors look much better! Seems like I can get the TTX back on my short list without having to pay the P1 premium.
Anyone else think the new Trek road bikes look alot like a Ridley Damocles? I guess Ridley and Cannondale were ahead of the time on the oversize headtube since others seem to be heading in that direction.
but i’d really like to know how aero the ttx frames actually are. for one, the downtube on the ttx is enormous, especially as at approaches the BB. and even though it is already big, it widens even more at the BB, big enough to swallow the entire BB shell (much as the carbon Guru frames do). and then none of trailing edges of any of the critical frame tubes taper much. they are very rounded.
again, you can’t tell too much about the shape of a bike and its slipperyness.
Well, I always take it seriously when reps from one company compliment the products of another company.
Gerard (from Cevelo) has said on a few threads, that the TTX is one of the more aero bikes they have tested. Someone posted a question on here asking about the aerodynamics of a certain frame (I can’t remember which) and Gerard said, he knew of at least 3 bikes that were more aero than that frame, and he named the P3C, the P2C and the TTX. So like I said, coming from him, that carries some weight. The headtube has a very unique aero shape on the TTX, it seems like Trek and Cervelo are the only one to get this part right and avoid the nose cones on bikes like the carbon QRs and the Planet X.
As for the other poster who said the Plasma has the TTX beat by a mile…not a chance. The Plasma is near the bottom in terms of frame shape, aspect ratios, etc. DO a search under the poster “cyclenutz” he posted a chart with the aspect ratios of all the aero frames from the major manufacturers.
same old problem with the TTX . arm pads are way to high up, no s bend aerobars…scott plasma has it beat by a mile
Though I agree that the extra 5 dollars for T2 plus aerobars are a much smarter spec for Trek(in fact if Trek mounted them under the basebar I think it would show extreme savvy), I disagree that the Plasma automatically “wins by a mile”.
