The new Pope is a German Shepherd!

.

I hope he’s a nice guy. They have a lot of challenges.

In this day and age, what religious organization doesn’t?

The older I get the more I realize how we all need religion in our lives.

and he is only 78
.

"The older I get the more I realize how we all need religion in our lives. "

so you get more and more wrong with age?

‘The older I get the more I realize how we all need religion in our lives.’

It’s called hedging your bets.

This doesn’t bode well (from the NY Times):

“As cardinal, he had shut the door on any discussion on several issues, including the ordination of women, celibacy of priests and homosexuality, defending his positions by invoking theological truth. In the name of orthodoxy, he is in favor of a smaller church, but one that is more ideologically pure.”

Just what the world needs more fundamentalism! No wonder I’m a reformed Catholic.

First let me say that I am married to a Catholic and into a whole family of Catholics, with priests and nuns, etc. For you protestants out there, like me, let me explain to you, your fascination with the smoke signals thing. They do nothing without smoke and incense.

Like John Wayne holed up and surrounded by Apache’s in a fort in Kansas, I was hanging on the edge of my seat all day waiting to see white or black smoke signals all day today.

I got caught up into this. The suspense about the color of the smoke was killing me. I didn’t really care who they picked. I was more into the “smoke signals” activity.

But then it dawned on me, hey, times have changed, all they have to do now is take a vote and then walk outside and tell everybody what they did or didn’t do using a radio or television or newspaper, or press secretary, to convey the news. Villages and cities no longer need get this news with their eyeballs looking for colors of smoke. Its 2005 A.D., not 423 A.D.

There are televisions now, radio stations and newspapers. The word gets out. There is no need for smoke signals.

Sincerely,

American Indians

Yea smoke and mirrors if you ask me. What kind of religion has a formal position against birth control in this day and age. The world is already too damn crowded.
Sorry for rant. I too am married into heavy Catholic family and they are following this almost as closely as American Idol!

Dude, there goes your green card application… to the DEPORT stack!

Just what the world needs more fundamentalism!

That´s what i thought, too. Although i´m past religion and definetely past church i still realize my life is influenced by them. So i had hoped for a step forward rather then backwards.

And…yes… he´s 78, the only good thing about his election.

Axel, in Germany

Talk to me Mike.

Do you go get a drink of water when your aisle gets up for communion or do you just sit there, feeling the glares of the eyes and minds and families wondering why you aren’t catholic—I’m referring to that very difficult moment when the wife and kids go up to the front for communion but you have to stay in your seat.

I’ve gone to mass for nine years, and I’ve never come up with a solid game plan for deftly handling that moment.

What kind of religion has a formal position against birth control in this day and age.

Jewish religion for one.

And why is a stance against birth control a bad thing?

because in a few years there will be a lot more people than this planet can absord and that abstinence is bullshit…unless you’re a virgin and don’t know what you’re talking about
.

Hey Booth

I just tell them I ate at home and don’t like crackers anyway. Now if they were serving some good wine and maybe some nice cheese, I would be all over that!

axel… still grinning

Funny story, very good friend of mine is in her 3rd year of Med School and was at a “Termination” center during her OB Rotation. She performed about 25 abortions a day for a week or so - this is very important triaining for her as she will be an ER doc (note : zelots - get off it, i dont want to hear that you hate abortion and your blithering)…

Well…before the “procedure” all the women had to fill out a form that included a question about birth control…one woman put in “abstinence”…LOL…sure sure…“Mary”

Oh come on Francois…your argument is based on convienience. No hard fact or proof. In fact, you cannot provide any substantive evidence about your statement.

Do some research and get back to us.

you’re more than one?
