Angellaura (like Angel-Laura) is a twenty-year old cosmetology student and part time model from Oregon. She is dating a buddy of one of the guys who works here and he hooked us up with her to do some photos for the website.
Unfortunately, the photo of Angellaura in the upper right does not do her justice. She is absolutely adorable in that “girl next door” kind of way. She has a delightful little Mona Lisa smile and can produce any number of looks for the camera in an instant. If you could see her face up close you would be captivated.
She is also an excellent model. We did six clothing changes and 200 photos in under 2 hours! Incredible. That includes taping up her clothes to make them lay right, lighting, hair, make-up and the whole thing.
We shot her predominantly in Cervelo clothing and are still working on the photos and are doing another shoot this weekend with the new women’s DeSoto clothing.
Angellaura is built for comfort, not speed. She says she hasn’t been on a bike since she got her driver’s license and didn’t even know the events in a triathlon. But she enjoys modelling and is a pro at it. when we showed her part of a video of Ironman she said, “That looks hard, people actually do that?”
No, it doesn’t. It’s easy to find a pretty face. It’s not easy to find a honest person with accountability, character and the ability to honor a commitment.
Interesting that someone who was seemingly so against all the “becca” and “tri-sherry” threads because they brought down the quality of the board would post such a ridiculous thread. So basically you are telling us that you can’t even find a real triathlete to use as a model for your website. You can’t even find one who knows what the events are??? Give me a break.
Yeah, we would have liked to find someone with familiarity with the sport.
Angellaura’s background with cosmetology and modelling give her skills and qualifications an athlete off the street doesn’t have.
She walked in, took a look at the lighting, knew what make-up to do, did her hair and in fifteen minutes looked fantastic. She also needed zero direction. She knew how to wear the clothing and show it.
If we had used a triathlete without any experience at showing clothes Kim and I would have been here all night trying to get six good photos.
-Not a bad idea. First we would have to find a triathlete that knows how to show the clothes, is natural in front of the camera and can pose quickly.
The other consideration is it gets pretty expensive with two people. We already have Kim Ross of IBS acting as the art director, I shoot the photos and Angellaura does the modelling.
Realistically, it amounts to just a few photos shot to put up on our website. While I want them to look nice and depict the clothing in an appealing way I can;t afford to spend too much time and money on it. Bottom line- we’re doing it to help sell triathlon clothes to men and women.
Great thing about Angellaura- she shows up, goes to work without direction, gets paid and says “Call me when you need more work done…” Boom, done.
In the past we haven;t carried much women’s apparel but now we have alot of it and a new changing room that is much larger, has a nice big mirror and bench and places to hang clothing- all the stuff people need to feel comfortable trying apparel. Our store is really small, so trying to find the space to do this was tricky, but we got it done.
Has anyone heard from Charlee lately? the woman who has all those killer pics on her web site…her real name is I think Sharee???or something like that? Memory is a bit faded at the moment…post race loss of brain cells!!! LOL
What’s more interesting is that someone who only posts on this forum to disparage the physical appearance of female triathletes is now bagging on the most helpful poster here and expecting other people to go along with it.
