One of them anyway - twig in the eye syndrome… just a small laceration, no internal eye injury.

Ouch! That’s why I always wear a hat with a big brim…tilt down my head and it pushes all the branches away from my eyes. I did get clocked in the head by an overhanging branch once. It was about 6 inches thick and pretty firmly attached to a big tree…so you can guess which of the two of us was on which end of the momentum-force equation!
Hey I had a 4" thick branch fall out of a tree on my head and knock me out a few years ago. I think the trees are out to get me. I typically wear eye protection during runs but this time just forgot to bring my glasses.
Yep, eye protection is very helpful…even if you have to wear clear lenses in the dark. However, I tend to disregard my own advice when mountain biking because the sunlight splattering through the leaves causes a strobelight effect when it reflects off the lenses which throws off my vision (or my perception) enough to make it hard to keep the bike on the trails.
I don’t know what you can do about a branch falling on your head. ![]()
It’s important that you start carrying a gun though.
Yuck! My sister bent over to smell the xmas tree a few years back, and she got a pine needle lodged in her eyeball. She went to the doctor to get it yanked out, but had no damage as I recall.

Hahahahah, that reminds me of a run 2 years ago. It was kind of windy out in the forest and I literally had a tree…the WHOLE tree…fall about 20 yards behind me as I was running along. Scared the ever livin piss out of me! I keep a sharp eye for trees with “excessive sway” now!!!
Once when I was running on a really windy day a big Carpenter Ant got blown out of a tree and into my eye. The Ant was not very happy about the situation and clamped on to my eye-lid.
Wow! Talk about random!
Running is almost as dangerous as riding ![]()

Thanks, that makes me feel better. Randomness is so much better than bad karma. I was thinking maybe it had something to do that magnifying lens as a kid.
I hope you heal quick. Not trying to be a smart ass here but you can get clear lenses to protect your eyes.
You could have protected yourself from injury while at the same time proclaiming to the world your status as a triathlete by running with a Seal Mask!
