The Gates; Art? (pictures)

But, when I drove cross town from the Queensborough Bridge (I’m working on the FDR Drive right beneath the bridge) it looked like the carnival was it town. Central Park is a work of art in itself. It doesn’t need this. There is a lot of hype about Christo’s works and this is the second time I’ve been severely disappointed. I saw his Wrapped Islands project in Biscayne Bay in Maimi when I lived there. It’s the same way again; a beautiful place just doesn’t need these decorations. Frederick Law Olmstead already did a wonderful job on Central Park. This just looks kind of silly.

Is Christo an artist? Sure. Is his art good art? Well…
