Just finished Graeme Obree’s book and this is a must read. It sure has inspired me to raise my level of torture during TT events. A real eye opener to the insight of an ill mind, and perhaps many of us have a little of that illness in each of us as we try to justify our selves through our sport. I know I often think a top finish is all I need to show the wife and kids it’s worth it.
I can highly recommend this book, it is a bit on the dark side with the exploration of (I imagine) a manic depressive. However, it is funny and sad in equal parts and must have been quite a cathartic experience for Graham Obree when he wrote it.
Goes into my top ten sports books, still waiting for Gold in the Water to arrive from amazon.
Is this available in the States? Google only shows me UK listings.
I was hoping to have it to read on my 10hr flight to London on Wed.
I got it for a gift, I’m sure it was from Amazon. It had to be shipped overseas so do they have Amazon UK. The book was reviewed by Velo news and the link to order it had to come from there. One could try World Cycling Productions as they have alot of stuff. Good luck and for the money it is alot of pages and covers many events.
