I have been an insomniac for the last 3 years. Ambien is my friend but even that friend lets me down on occasion. So what’s a dude to do.
Well I decided to try a new pillow since my pillow was starting best days was behind it. For the record I love an extra firm pillow. Nothing worse than a limp ass feather pillow. Well after thinking about it, I picked up a small memory foam contour pillow last Sunday.
Well after sleeping on it for 4 nights, I am a believer. It has transformed my sleep. I sleep longer and deeper. My dreams are much more vivid because I think I am able to get into a much deeper sleep. I wake up feeling much more rested.
Now I don’t know exactly what the reason for this is. Since my neck and head is much more stable, maybe its keeping my airways more open or something. Perhaps I was experiencing a mild cause of sleep apnea which was disturbing my sleep. Whatever it is, I am digging it so far.
Thought I would pass along this in cause anybody else might be in the same boat. It looks crazy as hell sitting on my bed, but regardless, it seems to be helping.
I have one of those crazy assed pillows too, but not memory foam. I hate memory foam because it feels hard as a rock after 15 seconds of lying on it. I have a firm foam curvy assed pillow and I love it. My issue was neck and upper back pain, not insomnia. I think the curves help support my neck in a more neutral position, so it helps with the pain I was getting before.
For years I stacked a down pillow on top of a foam pillow trying to get comfortable. About 10 years ago I bought a Select Comfort memory foam contour pillow. I can’t sleep without it now. I absolutely love the thing.
If by double pillow man you mean you like a firm base for your noggin rather than that you like boobs, I think you will be fine with this. They come in different firmness though. Some are rather squishy (think saggers) while others are nice and firm (think coeds). Grab yourself a coed and go for it.
I’ve used one for about 4 years now. Be prepared to buy a new one every year, the cheaper ones wear out quick. I’m affraid to drop $80 on a tempur pedic one and have it still wear out.
I guss I’m in the minority here, but I have one and don’t like it. It makes me feel like my neck is way too propped up and then my head is let down. It resides on the vacant side of my bed and I use the double up method on my side. Unless my b/f stays over (rare) in which case Ill use it and give him the normal pillows to be a good hostess.

I sleep much better with it, and some melatonin.
My $70/80 pillow has held up for almost 10 years. It is money well spent.

All of a sudden I’m interested in pillows… I never used to care about pillows…
Why not just fix the problem? One word: accupuncture.
I have suffered from insomnia for about the past 15 years. Started accupuncture about 4 weeks ago. ZERO sleep issues in the last 3 weeks. I am more rested than I have ever been and I am recovering faster than ever. Good stuff. I’m sold.
