So another of my favourite races has decided to change their run course to make it easier. That makes 3 of my (use to be) favourite races that have changed the course to make it easier. WTF?!

texas is not yet wussified!
You would likely catch me dead in Texas.

I understand if that short duathlon sounds too tough for you. Having to run on trails, and up steep slopes.
You might break a toenail or something.
=)
I can even provide you a free place to crash in Austin if you change your mind though!

what races?
Sounds like Texas is the hard part for this guy. Take any race, move it to Texas, and then it’s too hard.
Texas is definitely not yet wussified. YAY, TEX-ASS!
The continued wussification
Mark,
Is that the same thing as pansification!!! ![]()
You would likely catch me dead in Texas.
Seems the wussification did not stop at the races…

Was that their reasoning, they came out and said “To make it easier, etc.”.
I know a race I did last year (Pinehurst Oly Tri in NC) changed their run, as they basically turned the run clockwise, as it was counterclockwise before. This may have made it easier, but it also leads to a better finish, as the last 500m you can see the runners coming to the finish. In the current run course, you basically didnt see the finishers until the finishing shute.

What, problem with your ex’s?
BTW, I’m on a boat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7yfISlGLNU
.
They just said they have taken out the “dreaded last out and back hill at the end of the route”. It is really too bad as a LOT of the race was decided on that hill. You could see just who was hurting and make your move either going up that hill or coming down. It was a great aspect to that race.
Switch to running ultras where you hear things like “we’re rerouting the run to make it 100% on trail and add another 1000’ of gain, hope you enjoy the new course” or “if you’ve run 4 or 5 miles without seeing any flagging then you probably missed a turn” and where a high finishing rate is above 70%.
That’s next year. ![]()
There’s always Xterra.
I wish. Closest Xterra race is about 5 hours away.
I think I know what you are talking about. Is this the race that formally had the steep little finish to it? If you don’t want to name it would it rhyme with Ralph?
If so, I agree. I loved that run course. I didn’t think it was super hard either. Oh well.
