Ok, its February and in North America, in most places, its just too cold or wet to ride outside.
But, w/ IM NA season starting up in March, you can’t afford to skip a bike workout.
Here’s a spin session I use.
Begin by tuning your TV to CMT.
First the disclaimer: I’m not necessarily a big country music fan, but at least they play music. MTV is hung up on pushing their homosexual agenda and VH1 is hung up on using actors born in the 80’s to criticize the 70’s. So, CMT will have to do.
With your bike in the trainer, pedal in the small ring during the songs and in the large ring during the commercials.
CMT typically plays a 4 song set. Pedal in the small ring on front. Choose your rear sprocket to suit your cadence.
After each 4 song set, they will play 8 commercials. Yes, 8. But, some are short and some are long. The variety is what keeps you focused. All in all, its about a 2 minutes total commercial break, just like any other station.
Peddle in the big ring during the entire commercial break. Alternate standing and sitting as each commercial changes. Sometimes you’ll be standing for a long 45 second commercial followed by a 5 second quick commercial, where you were seated. On the next commercial, stand again until the next one, etc. You get quite a variety of commercial lengths. But, you’ll be begging for the songs to come back on, just so you can sit and spin in the small ring for 4 more songs.
In an hour workout, you’ll get 4 to 5 large ring sessions.
Give it a try.
or post you own creative spin session.
