The bike I've been having lots of fun on

About a month ago I built up a new road bike, and I’ve since ridden it just shy of 1000 miles.

This bike is lots of fun, so much so that I want to share it with ST.

Quick rundown of the build:

Saddle bag: Jandd

Some things I’ve learned building this bike:

  1. Long cage deraillers are slower than short cage derailleurs, and should only be used if necessary. A short cage is long enough for a 50/34, 11-25 setup.

  2. Handbuilt wheels are very underrated. The Chorus/Open Pro wheels pictured are 99% as nice as the Nucleons I’m riding now. That’s saying quite a bit considering one costs less than half of the other.

  3. The Newtons are really nice bars. Flat bottoms to the drops, but I’m still able to brake naturally from them.

  4. Conti makes really nice tires. Cheap tires aren’t worth it.

  5. 50/11 is plenty of gear.

Those are the things that come to mind. I’ve really enjoyed this bike, and I wanted to share it with you all. Maybe it’ll even serve as some inspiration for a new build, or just to ride the bike you already love.
