The Best Vino Quote Ever

From Cyclingnews.com, this rates about an 11 on a scale of 1-10 on the unintentional comedy meter…

"Alexandre Vinokouv has protested his innocence to l’Equipe, claiming he never doped. He’s come up with a bizarre explanation as to why he failed the test, which was reported to have shown red blood cells from two different people:

‘I think it’s a mistake in part due to my crash. I have spoken to the team doctors who had a hypothesis that there was an enormous amount of blood in my thighs, which could have led to my positive test.’"

This is my favorite quote. As Vino is on the podium accepting the lion and jersey after the TT, Paul Sherwen says “This was done on absolute guts and courage alone.” Yup, that and a few extra litres of someone’s blood.

At least he still has a sense of humor:

“I heard that I made a transfusion with my father’s blood,” Vinokourov said. “That’s absurd, I can tell you that with his blood, I would have tested positive for vodka.”
