The BEST Post-workout/Meal Replacement Shake

8oz. Water
1/2 Frozen Banana
2 scoops Muscle Milk Light Vanilla Creme Flavor protein powder
1 6oz tub of Lite Yogurt, any flavor (sub 100 cals)
6-8 Frozen Blueberries

Blend. Drink. Smile.

The whole thing is around 300 cals, 20+g protein and <20g carbs depending on the yogurt you use.

Sounds great! I need to buy a blender and make this a routine thing.

I would be tempted to replace the water with skim milk or soy milk for those that don’t like lactose.

Plus, I would probably double the recipe since I am a calorie hound.

Post workout you want carbs to protein in roughly a 4:1 ratio, so your higher-protein/lower carb is far from the BEST post workout shake you could get.

I’m a fan of:

1 ripe banana
~8 oz choc almond milk
couple of ice cubes
handful of blueberries ( or blackberries, or strawberries, or … )
1 scoop protein powder
1 big spoonful of peanutbutter (trader joes crunchy, w/ flax seed)

x2. Double the calories and it might be a decent MRP, but your best bet for a recovery drink post workout is plain old chocolate milk.

Nope, nothing wrong with good old choc milk. Sometimes after a workout I will do Slimfast instead, but like TC said above to the original poster, you want 4:1 carbs:protein so their shake is not really ideal.
