The Austin Triathlon Roll Call

who is in tomorrow?
I’ll be there trying to win the race to T2, can’t run due to injury :frowning:

girlfriend will be trying to win her age group

everyone got their disc covers ready?

They wouldn’t let me in affraid I’d kick your ass this time
and that would be embarrassing to have someone over twice your age
do it. CapTexTri won AG by 21 min
Good luck tomorrow

I’ll be there, M30-34. What do you think you’ll split out for the swim/bike?

That would be interesting if I lived in Austin where I grew up
but since I’m in OKlahoma now that’s a far piece to travel to
bandit a race which I don’t believe in anyway. May be next
year at CapTex or Austin Tri

no idea on the swim, hopefully 24.something mph on the bike. lots of uturns on the course so its tough.

I think if you drop the hammer you can break 1hr. I don’t think the uturns will hurt you that much. The 3x climb up congress may though. Be a ST hero!

I’ll try =)

I think I was in around 1:04 for the bike course, per my stopwatch, have to see the official results.

I think to go sub 1 hour I’ll have to actually train a lot and quit using work as an excuse =)

58:57… i had a great day on the bike.

You are tough man though for finishing the run considering having knee problems.

nice! you crushed it. I think you and I were 1-2 into T2, close anyway.

I wasn’t tough, I have a plica (probably) issue with my knee doesn’t hurt to walk, so it was just a pleasant stroll, got to cheer on the girlfriend.

if I had run I would just set back the recovery :frowning:

Pantelones - you freaking killed that bike course! I know, b/c I can’t ever catch you!!! I wish I could ride even close to that speed, but guess I’ll have to settle for my 1:04 bike time. Still managed to pull out a 2nd in our age group though. You are a great competitor!

jackmott - I’m not complaining about my 1:04 considering I flatted last year on one of the U turns. You should be proud of that…still a solid speed with the climb up congress 3 times.

I’ve been really killing the speed work on the bike/run the last two months and I’m pleased with the results. But Monday I honestly just had an ON day and fortunatly it coincided with race day.

My friend John (he placed third in our AG) told me you sniped him in the last mile or so. You posted a very solid run split and kudos for burning the pace down and running your way up the podium.

You going to be at Longhorn?

I’m skipping Longhorn this year. I am doing IM St. George next May and knowing what it took me to mentally and physically prepare for my last IM, I want to go into my base period with a really fresh mental and physical state and not a fatigued state from training for a 70.3. I thought about doing it just for a training race, but I don’t think I have the mental capacity to “hold back” and I would end up racing it all out and then take me 4 weeks to recover good. Best of luck to you if you do it. I always look forward to racing you b/c I know I can’t ever catch you on the bike so I spend the run trying to catch you…very motivating for me!
Great job and congrats on 1st place!
