I was just reading the thread below and thinking about what an awesome group of athletes habituate this forum. A guy flies thousands of miles to race and his bike gets lost in transit. In a matter of a few hours after posting, he’s got people coming out of the woodwork offering him bikes.
Just awesome - you guys make me proud to be a triathlete…
I second that motion. I thought the same thing as I followed that post. There have been other situations where this outstanding, yet wonderfully disfunctional and warped, group has shown their true colors. We’ve given opinions and suggestions on everything from running shoes, goggles, and racing wheels to coffee makers, baby names, and vasectomies, cheered births, mourned breakups, encouraged others through unmotivated seasons, followed each other’s races and successes, planned get togethers at events, raised money for charity, and had the funniest Christmas Party I’ve ever attended! Sometimes I’ll actually remember that we’re spread across the globe in dozens of states, countries and time zones, have hundreds of different backgrounds, occupations, lifestyles, reasons for being here, and reasons for loving triathlon, and I’m always amazed. It is too hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t yet drinken the Kool-aid. Thank you everyone of you and especially to Slowman Dan.
Reminds me of something I remember an anesthesiologist saying almost every day…“You’re going to feel a big prick over her on your arm, and, you’ll feel a needle stick, too!”
