The 3T Exploro -- First Ride Impressions

The Exploro is a fantastic bike, but the geometry in the size M is really lacking IMO. It has a 71.1 HTA paired with a 50mm rake fork, producing a 67mm trail. IMO and experience this is really sloppy feeling on the road. I know toe overlap is a concern, but I don’t think it’s a big enough deal to sacrifice that much in the handling on the front end. Just my 2 cents.

I’m in the process of having a custom frame built that is actually very similar to the geo of the 3T larger sizes (I’m even using your 3T fork). It wasn’t my intent to have a similar bike, but the numbers ended up looking pretty darn close after the dust settled.

Awesome product though!

Giving up that ~4-5mm of trail has more to do with the handling at speed on mixed surfaces coupled with the shorter wheelbase. What wheel diameter did you use to calculate the 67mm of trail btw? 650B x 47mm? 700c x 25mm? 650B x 2.1" 700c x 40mm?

What bike with 67mm of trail have you ridden on the road?
