The 2026 30,000 rep challenge

For sure. My bench press is up to 225# x8, haven’t done that since college. Core is rock solid, getting visible muscle definition. Hiking and scrambling in Sedona last month I felt fatigue after a few hours but the push-off movements were still elastic and strong at the end of the day,

Aside from individual muscle group performance metrics I feel more balanced stronger overall. I was never a leg day guy but it’s the workout I look forward to most now and incorporating compound movements like squat to shoulder press or squat to kettlebell swing keeps it dynamic with other muscle groups benefiting.

I likely won’t hit my 30k target as it doesn’t allow enough recovery time from heavy weight days but it’s getting me closer to where I want to be from a fitness and performance standpoint.

My April core and strength are way down and the spinning is up. Too many excises to not get to the gym and on the mat. That will change in May.

Yearly totals:

75 hours and 40 minutes of spinning

70 strength sessions

2,539 flights of stairs

24,436 core reps

We should recruit this dude for the challenge. Local guy, can’t say much more given HIPPA restrictions but it takes a toll.

“I started with doing 4 sets of 12 pull-ups, and then after every workout, like a couple weeks later, I switched it to like …5 by the minute for 300 and just doing that every day after every workout… I just did pull-ups every single day. My biggest training week would probably be 2400 pull-ups and 4 hours every day of the week, which ends up being 14,000 or 16,000,” he said.“

That is crazy. I would take 4 sets of 12 pull up’s and be happy.

I felt terrible. Two nights in a row with no sleep because of constant coughing due to allergies. I can’t fins anything that helps.

65 minutes of spinning. I thought I could squeeze in a quick 30 minute session and I felt terrible. Zero energy. My plan was to go to the gym after the spin but I realized I didn’t have the energy for that. So I decided to spin for 45 minutes. That turned into a 1,000 ft virtual climb because I thought maybe if I pushed extra hard I would reenergize myself. That was a stupid idea.

I had another terrible night. I will be taking a day or a couple of days off. You know your getting old when your body is sore from coughing.

I’m learning to take the rest when I need it. Hope you’re on the mend, seems to be catching everyone this time of year. Allergies are a beast in this area too.

I wonder how people can scale up their pull ups that quickly and not end up with tendonitis.

I guess being 22 helps.

I don’t think anyone can do it without going into rhabdo.

For the 24 hour challenge, absolutely. I was referring more to just the day in, day out training for it.

If I do pull ups 3 days a week, it’s not long before I develop tendonitis. And pretty proficient with the movement.

It was a great day with my son graduating from college and the entire family getting together to celebrate.

The allergies will not let up. It is strange that I have never been affected this way before.
