Nice pics, especially the last two. They’re beauties.
Videos were good as well!
Yeah once you commit, it’s “easier” to keep going up. Looks like a great day!

Amazing pics and videos. You made some lifetime memories and lessons today. I think I will wait until tomorrow to post my indoor virtual world bike stats after viewing this
.
Minor victory today as my son conceded that he couldn’t have completed the scramble in the shoes I was wearing yesterday.
Today we hiked 8 miles on the West Fork Trail just north of Sliding Rock, and after about 5 miles I asked him to switch from the soft Vibram soled Altra Olympus he was wearing to the Obos radial tire sole shoes I had on, which were rock hard and giving me hot spots after a while. They’re great for AT style hiking along the BRP but not so great at shock abstention, flexion and smearing. You can see how flexible the sole is in the video. On the way out today he climbed this boulder in the Altras and on the way back in the Obos and said absolutely no way could he have made it to the top yesterday in the shoes I was wearing.
Stupid Obos (below) were great for stone bruise protection and wedging in the crack for a solid platform but couldn’t grip for anything vertical. Gear matters.
Beautiful trail though. Busy but not annoyingly so. I can see why it’s a popular spot for families, my couch potato 13yo gutted out 8 miles and emerged intact. Nothing a soak in the hot tub can’t fix.
Sliding Rock looked like a zoo. Hard pass.

More great pics! Thanks for sharing.
4/3:
70 minute spin. 80% threshold intervals. I felt great.
100 core reps
4/4:
55 minute spin through France. Varying watts intervals. Trying to keep steady watts on the rolling terrain of France is mean.
300 core reps
30 minute strength
50 flight of stairs
2.8 mile walk
Down 11 lbs since January
Damn, 11 pounds is no joke, well done! Do I get to claim “weight loss” for starting this thread? I’ll just assume so. But seriously, that’s awesome, good on ya mate. I think my weight may have stayed mostly the same but composition certainly has changed. If there’s any weight loss when I step on the scale at home it’s from the sustained long cardio sessions here and near absence of alcohol. I’ve had two beers and one glass of wine since touching down in AZ, which is less than half of what I’d usually have over five days away from the hospital, and probably 5x less than I’d have on the average vacation of this duration.
Back in the gym today, will take the day off from cardio and squats for obvious reasons. The mileage and altitude totals caught up to me last night, the wheels need a cool-down day. Tomorrow we’ve rented a Bronco Bandlands edition for 24h so we’ll do some off-roading-to-trail destination hikes, but today we eat and shop.

@gfd congrats on the weight loss! That must feel great! I like the rolling roads in France. Can get some decent climbing and it’s still relatively fast. Make sure to change gears going up some of the rollers; anything 2% and up if I’m just riding I will shift up at least 1 gear. Saves the legs and can flatten the wattage out.

Did a totally different ride today than yesterday but each day my elevation gain was 3432ft. Weird.
That is an impressive amount of climbing in a session.
4/5:
90 minute spin through Richmond with a cobbled climb at the end.
300 core reps
150 pushups

Thanks! Upgrading the Zwift mountain bike so I need to climb. I’ve done the radio tower the last 3 days in a row. Fun! That Richmond climb is steep steep steep at the end!
4/6:
60 minute spin with a pacer. I lasted about 10 minutes with the pace group. It was so slow.
100 core reps
2.8 mile walk
Today I have a massage and will probably take the day off. I had a slight hotter accident yesterday. I was lifting the heavy cover back on and my wife tried to help and lifted her end. I was in the middle and all the weight was pushed to my left arm and shoulder. I did not know she was lifting that end and I kept trying to even it out so it didn’t go through the wood pergola wall. Something pulled in my shoulder and back. Life is ridiculous at times.
Sorry to hear about your “injury”! Better to be safe and take a day of rest.
I’m taking that advice as well. It’s been 13 days in a row for me. Legs are tired. I’m tired. Didn’t sleep great last night. Hopefully a good sleep recharges my batteries!
I’m just trying to push to get my minutes in as I have a trip planned at the end of the month. We’ll be gone for two weeks, so had it in my mind to push and get my time in with no breaks! Better temper that. ![]()
I have tried to do the same thing before vacation many times. It usually doesn’t work out to well. Good luck though.
My shoulder feels much better after my massage. She is a miracle worker.
4/8:
60 minute spin with 3 ten minute intervals at percentages close to FTP. I felt really strong on the last one in particular.
200 core reps

That’s another thing I need to do, go get a massage. Have coverage but never use it.
Figure after tomorrow’s ride I well have the TT and Mountain bike fully upgraded. Then I can just ride the Tron bike normally and not worry about doing rides that have lots of elevation. Looking forward to that! ![]()

Fully upgraded the mountain and TT bike. Now I can start upgrading the Tron bike. Just takes 8000km a fully upgrade it!
@sphere how are you doing?
Nice! I got a new drivetrain for my steel frame.
4/9:
60 minute spin. Nice power threshold workout through the desert and sequoias.
15 minute strength.
150 core.

Titans Forest! I like that stretch. Decent climb then lots of speed on the descent while still getting some elevation gain.
Back from vacation and the 3 shift stretch on the back end, back in the routine. Most of last week was hiking focused so it’s back to the reps this week

60 minute spin through the Mayan San Remo course. I am finally improving. I finished in the top 45% on both climb segments and also 20th and 19th out of around 400 in the two sprints.
I have the house to myself today so the garage needs cleaning out and the patio furniture needs to be taken outside. I hope you all have the same nice weather I have today. 60 and sunny
