What are your thoughts on this: Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE 2 | All-in-one indoor cycling setup

I don’t really want to spend thousands on a full KICKR set up but I also don’t want to buy something that I won’t be happy with. I have never ridden indoors on anything but a fluid trainer with my tri bike on it.

Thanks for any input.

Before I started using Zwift I also just used a Fluid trainer to ride indoors. So that is where I started as well!

I do not have any personal experience with the Kickr set up. I have read good things about it though. I went with a Garmin Neo Tacx based on a friends recommendation. I have not been disappointed. It has basically been bomb proof; never had a dropped connection to Zwift. The plus with this set up, is you can ride your actual bike if you want. I have my old tri bike (Cervelo P2) set up on it!

I think with any choice you make, you will notice the difference (in a positive way) between your Fluid trainer and a “smart” trainer. And there are other apps out there like Rouvy that I have not tried but have heard good things about.

Obviously I cannot say you will be happy, but I do not find it hard to be motivated to get on my trainer to ride. I rode exclusively indoors through the summer last year and may do that again this year. There is always something “different” to try.

Thank you. I knew you would have solid advice to give. Riding outside is something I can never do again. It is a bummer but I am not going to get depressed about things out of my control. I will check out the Garmin. My issue is that I sold my road bike and my good tri bike. My 20 year old Cervelo is in need of a lot of work to keep it functioning and I am not sure it is worth it.

New ab roller, great addition to the gym.

Peloton’s best row instructor by a mile, Katie Wang.

That ab roller is cool. I have the old wheel with a plastic handle model. Tomorrow I might try the row machine.

Takes the tension off the upper body joints more so than the stick and wheel roller. I use both..

No worries.

I have read alot of people just throw any old bike onto their Garmin Tacx and use that! It really does not make a difference to the app which kind of bike you have on the trainer. Have a nice comfy seat and you are ready to rock!

I started to ride exclusively inside last year as I almost lost a close friend after he was hit by a car, and I did lose a close friend after he was hit by a car. Just felt too close to home for me. Might try and get outside this year. But there are no potholes or rain (well you there is rain but its virtual!) on Zwift!

That’s the third month in a row I have missed the first day of the month! Not starting it great. Plus I probably won’t work out tomorrow as a buddy just invited me to go watch a hockey game. Of well, play catch up for the month.

Live hockey is amazing. I have tickets to our local AHL Flyers affiliate in three weeks. Enjoy the game.

Today started out poorly on the bike. I felt sore and had little motivation. I planned on doing an easy strength workout and walking a mile or two. Instead I had a great workout.

450 core reps.

45 minutes of strength. A PR in shoulder presses for endurance. 100 reps with 45lb dumbbells in 7 minutes and 20 seconds.

Another stair stepper PR. 100 flights in 19:35.

And I still feel great an hour later.

So equivalent to a single set of of 100 reps, of a 90lb bar, for 7mins? Or do you alternate presses and/or sides with the dumbells?

Either way, that’s seriously impressive work!

38 minutes of the 60 today was a race. It hurt. HR maxed at 193 and averaged high 160s. Fun!

I think hockey is the best sport to watch live. This was my view last night:

Sorry @windywave we had to beat Bedsy and the boys. Fun night and glad I went.
