Today’s ride was Stage 5 of the Tour de Zwift. It included a ride up Alpe de Zwift. It’s modeled after Alpe d’Huez. It has the 21 hairpin turns and it’s almost 4000 feet of climbing. Fun!

Like @GFD it will be an easy spin for me tomorrow.

I’ve only access to the peloton platform but I’ve always thought that would be an incredibly fun stage to do virtually. I may need to look into this zwift thing. My wife would probably love it.

Took an active rest day yesterday, 10m warmup row, 30m peloton spin, stretching following the prior day’s heavy weight workout of the three rep target areas. Back on the program today.

I’ve noticed that there are some many “breeds” that end in “-oodle”

Do poodles just fuck anything? And is it the top (male) or the bottom (female) that is the slutty one?

It’s the no shedding, “hypoallergenic” thing that drives the demand for poodle mixes.

It’s the spaniel in him that makes me want to drop him at a shelter three counties over.

Do you work out at home or at a gym?

Tonight is an overnight shift. I won’t work out tomorrow post call so I’ll try to double up tonight if the fates allow.

Is it the spaniel?

Poodles can be major assholes. I know plenty of people who paid $3k for a designer labradoodle, only to get the dumb part of the lab, and the asshole nature of the poodle.

His energy level and urge to run is off the charts. We run him with the 4x4 on the farm most days, and he’s absolutely neurotic about it. Take a deep breath or make a sudden move while sitting on the couch as though you might possibly be getting up and he pounces and runs in circles thinking he’s going out for a run. If you haven’t taken him out yet and you open the door, he takes off running for the in-laws house down the road, who also have a sproodle from the same breeder and behaves similarly. Almost daily I get a call from them telling them he’s at their house as kids are constantly in and out of the house with escape opportunities aplenty. I’ve told them in very clear terms that letting him in their house is a big part of the problem and that he’s going to the shelter if they keep doing it. We’ll be lucky if we don’t get sued for causing a car or bike wreck, as the house is situated on a highly traveled cycling route and he blows right through the shock collar boundary.

I don’t know if that’s poodle or spaniel but it’s not far from being a memory.

That does sound like a lot of dog to handle. How old is he? Maybe that will mellow with age?

Our husky was similarly hyperactive. She could run all day. Once I took her out for a 10k run, and when we got home she was still bouncing off the walls, so my wife took her for another 10k. We were both exhausted; she acted like she just went for a stroll and still wanted to play.

Once she turned 4-5 she mellowed out to much more normal dog levels and we were able to reduce her daily exercise levels from like 3-4 hours a day to around 2.

I spin at home and when I use kettlebells it is also at home.

I go to Planet Fitness since I dropped my Y membership after the accident. I am not a fan but I have very few options where I live.

Overnight shift, got it in between 3 and 4 am. May need to increase my recovery time after weight training, felt the beginnings of a muscle injury on my 190th pushup, finished with modified version to reduce the load.

200 / 200 / 500 + 100 dumbbell curls

Cumulative:

Pushups: 2,550
Body weight squats: 2,700
Abs/core reps: 5,450

30 minute spin and 200 core reps. I was dragging today after seeing the Turnpike Troubadours in Philly last night. They were amazing but getting home at 1:00 AM was not. I am getting old.

It does suck to get old! I’m falling asleep at like 7:30!
