The homeless problem in this state is utterly insane and our overlords keep doubling and tripling and quadrupling down on the policies that have made get to this point.

And anyone who complains is absolutely vilified.

It’s an environmental problem. Disease, filth, human shit and trash literally piling up in the streets. I just got back from Mexico and it was cleaner (by far) than anything near downtown LA.

It’s a wildfire problem. Almost every recent large wildfire that wasn’t started by PG&E was started by a homeless person.

There have been several recent random attacks by homeless people on others, some of them ending in death of the victim.

Businesses are becoming public bathrooms (heroin shooting galleries) in some cases by force.

A beach in San Clemente has become unusable do to a sometimes violent group of homeless who have just decided to live there.

A local beach here in Santa Barbara was on its way to becoming a homeless camp, city was contacted and they just “offered services” to the “campers”, which was rejected so city says “our hands are tied”.

Some of us decided to take care of that situation on our own.

Again, anyone who complains get vilified, harassed, doxxed and death threats.

This is really sad. I love the geography and weather of Cali and its a beautiful part of the country. But if they don’t get this shit under control, I hope the people there finally come to their senses and start voting in officials that will take a stand.

How long will the wealthy folks in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach stand for it when their kids are sick with typhus or plague because you don’t have a rodent control department and they won’t take care of the homeless problem?

Will we have to quarantine to entire damn state at some point?

Reasons?

High taxes, horrible business climate, homelessness, illegal immigration (mostly the protection of by the state) and just a general sense of “fuck you plebes” that our leaders have.

The male (they’re a couple) was basically assaulted by a homeless person demanding money. Interesting to get your perspective. I doubt until some of the ultra rich left starts being bothered by some of this nothing will happen. I keep expecting to see CALI with more people moving out than in too but last I saw someone said they still have a ton trying to move there.

Now with the chance of infectious disease going up, can’t really see the point.

We are leaving the state in September and selling the house here. Our youngest leaves for college in August and we are outta here. I have plenty of colleagues (all fairly high to very high net worth) on their way out. Our little town is adjacent to San Clemente and the changes due to homeless population is incredible, just in the last 12 mos.

The Carr fire last year burned 360 mi^2 and was the 6th worst fire in history was started by sparks off a flat tire on a camping trailer (stupid people)
The Mendocino complex fire was the largest fire complex in history. Don’t know the causes, but it was the middle of nowhere, north of Clear Lake (which is the poorest part of CA and a reservation)
The Lions fire last year burned 13k acres inside Inyo nat forest . Started by lightning.
The County/Guida fire last year burned 90k acres outside Lake Berryessa. Started by some improperly installed electric fence (stupid people)
