Thanks Dan!

Just a quick ST thank you to Dan E for his help in locating the spectacular venue at Clear Lake (Lakeport, CA). Not only did this venue make for a world class race but the community support was truly amazing. Thanks for all the support Dan and a huge thank you to all the great folks in Lakeport.

P.S. Registration for 2008 will be opening soon. Mark your calendars for June 8, 2008.

P.S.S. The current Lakeport Chamber president pulled me aside during the post event dinner and mentioned she’d like to see the run along the lake in 2008. Can you say flat and fast?

Thanks to you as well Shannon! Nicely done.

If the lakeside run course is an option, why was it considered (or not?) and then dropped in favor of the “mountain stage”?

I like challenging courses as much as the next triathlete (“bring it!”) but do you think it would bring in significantly more folks to advertise a “flat and fast” run circuit? (I’m thinking yes.)

Unless fast and flat mean on the road.

Dave

First year events need to take baby steps with the community before closing down major roads. The run course used was picked for ease of logistics on the local community and of course the great views! Did you notice those great views? Now that Lakeport understands what triathlon is all about, it will be a much easier sell to the board of supervisors in Lake County. I still love that course - could a flat course along the lake be as epic?

Outstanding job Shannon, et al. with putting together a top-notch race at such a cool venue. Your team, much like the Lakeport residents, were wonderful and ever so accommodating to the fickle needs of racers. This was my first HFP race and it certainly won’t be my last!

As much as my quads are in pain, I’m already looking forward to doing it again next year.

PS- my wife and I stayed at the same B&B as your team and appreciate all that is required to pull off such a herculean task (e.g., going to bed at midnight and getting up at 0200 with a SMILE, etc.). It was cool to see your race HQ!

I don’t know why races are constanly advertising great views. If you’re out there racing, your not exactly sight seeing.
I like a clean swim and some shade on the run, other than that, I couldn’t care less about the scenery.

lol…you should have done Silverman with me last year. I took about 20 pictures while on the bike. I was definitely more of a tourist for that race than a racer.
