My letter to Bell, and a little reminder wy we are so anal about the helmet issue.
A few weeks ago you saved my life.
I am a Triathlete, and was training for Ironman Florida. On a training ride I suffered an equipment malfunction of my bike which resulted in catastrophe. At between 20 mph and 25 mph I sustained a crash which resulted in a severely separated shoulder (Grade III borderline IV).
In the course of the incident I also landed squarely on my right temple resulting in a large contusion where my sideburn resides. The impact was enough to render me temporarily unconscious and also result in the fracture of my Bell Furio helmet which I had purchased several years previous.
As a direct result of your engineering and design of this helmet these were my only effects of a traumatic crash.
Your well engineered product, both the molded shell and retention system, are the sole reasons that I am able to write you this letter.
Thank you for making a quality product and providing the training to your vendors that make it effective.
I owe all of your staff a debt I can never repay.
Thank you again,
Peter B. Gast. III (still living)
